District Brethren Serve at Faith Mission
Faith Hope Charity

WB David Percival, President of the 14th Masonic District Officers Association was joined by other District Officers, his wife Linda, WB Tim Rice, 2nd Vice President, RWB Jeff Rannebarger, Past President and Treasurer, WB Ed Grifffiths, Past President and his daughter Molly and one of her friends, Br. Kevin Clouse, and WB Ted Pummell and his 2 grandsons, Cody a Mason from the 14th District as they gathered on Sunday evening, November 9th at the Faith Mission on Grant St. in Columbus. They met to serve dinner to those less fortunate of the Columbus area. This is a very small way of giving back to the community. The District Officers have been serving at Faith Mission for about the past 6 years.

This is a very humbling experience to reach out to the homeless and as the weather grows more colder, the need grows as more look for shelter and a hot meal.

We sincerely appreciate our brethren, and families for their service to the community!

Past Master's Convocation / District Annual Meeting

Lecture

You will need your Certificate of Election form so your respective Deputy will be able to sign it and it needs to be returned to your Secretary for addition to the Lodge minutes.

The Quarterly Meeting of the 14th District Officers Association is February 26, 2015 at Groveport Lodge, starting at 7:00 p.m. Every Lodge is requested to have a representative to share what's going on in their respective Lodge, and all Masons are welcomed and encouraged to attend.

District Education Officers Schedule LEO Conference by WB Ken Cohen
Lamp Square Compasses
The LEO Conference is planned for December 13th at 10:00 a.m. at South Gate - Potter Lodge in Canal Winchester during the PM Convocation. This meeting is mandatory for all Lodge Education Officers to learn about the 2014-2015 Education Programs. The meeting will conclude about noon. Feel free to stay for lunch and the District Annual Meeting following in the afternoon.

This year, the Grand Master, MWB Cokonougher has charged the DEOs to teach a class for the Wardens and Deacons. Both classes will be held at West Gate Lodge on West Broad St. on Saturday, January 3rd, 2015. Lunch will be available for a nominal charge or you can bring your own.

Please see future newsletters for further information.

Lodge Tax Exemption Status is Ongoing Process

In talking with one of the Secretaries of the District recently, he explained that as he read the paperwork, he believed that it needs to be re-applied to keep the status. In checking with the Grand Secretary, MWB C. Michael Watson, he has confirmed that this is the correct procedure. Although many Lodges have filed the first application for Tax Exemption Status, it is indeed an ongoing process and has to be reapplied for each year.

This pertains to those Lodges that own buildings or have Temple Companies, but it is necessary to continue tax exemption. WB Simpson of the Grand Secretary's Office explains that the form "DTE V" is to be mailed to them by the County Treasurer. It is a one page form confirming ownership has not changed and the amount of rental income from NON-MASONIC Renters - if the Lodge owns the property. If a Temple Company owns it, they are to put NA down for the rental income amount.

This is important to about 14 of the Lodges in the 14th District, so please watch for this information and form when it comes in the mail.

For information, or if there are questions, please contact WB Simpson at csimpson@freemason.com or at 614-885-5318 or at 1-800-292-6092. He is helping Secretaries with this process.

New England Lodge To Move to New TEMPORARY Location by WB Crowell Shane

Square and Compasses

With the selling of the building, The brethren of New England Lodge #4 will be moving to their new TEMPORARY location starting with their first meeting in January (January 15, 2015). Their new meeting location is at Northland Masonic Temple located at 5885 Cleveland Ave.

They will meet on the third Thursday night of each month at 7:00 p.m. The change of location and meeting nights are needed as the Lodge looks for a new location in the Worthington area.

York Golf Club NEW Entrance by WB Greg Brewer

With the road construction on U S 23 (High Street) north of I-270 north of Worthington, the entrance of York Golf Club has been affected. Not only have several holes been reconfigured, but the old York Temple Dr. access off of High Street has CLOSED PERMANENTLY! The new access has been installed and is now open as of May 7th.

Back in May, access to York Golf Club is off W. Campus View Drive (NEW ACCESS DRIVE) at Rt. 23 (High Street).

Also - NO NORTHBOUND HIGH STREET TO WEST (LEFT) ONTO W. CAMPUS VIEW DRIVE.

You must turn right (east) onto Dimension Dr. (between Bob Evans and Ruckmoor), and proceed west to High Cross Blvd, then turn north (left) onto High Cross to E. Campus View Blvd turning east (left) onto E. Campus View and straight through High Street to W. Campus Blvd to York Temple Dr.

Please be aware that this will be for the next 2 years as the construction will be tunneling a new roadway in that area.

Scottish Rite Reunion Welcomes New Brethren

Valley of Columbus AASR

The Fall 2014 Valley of Columbus Scottish Rite Reunion is now concluded. We welcomed over 60 new brethren as 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Masons on November 1st.

Chairman of the Board and Sovereign Price, WB Chad Simpson along with the other Presiding Officers greeted the new members along with Valley Secretary, Illustrious Brother Fred Kile. The 4th, 14th, 21st, 29 (video), and 32nd Degrees were conferred on the new brethren.

After lunch, Chairman Simpson, Thrice Potent Master Greg Guy, Most Wise Master, and Commander-in-Chief Brian Bolyard congratulated those long serving Brethren with their service pins and certificates. Brother Ross L. Barry and Jeff Garringer were both selected as recipients of the SMA (Special Merit Award) from the Valley of Columbus. We congratulate them on their selection!

Welcomed to this reunion included Past Grand Masters, MWB C. Rolland Lattanner, MWB C. Michael Watson, Past Sovereign Master, Valley of Dayton and Grand Secretary of the Grand Lodge of Ohio, MWB Jack Allen, MWB Jim Deyo, Active Emeritus and Past Deputy for Ohio, and MWB Ron Winnett.

MWB Steve Cokonougher, Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Ohio, 33rd Degree Mason, and Past Commander-in-Chief of Scioto Consistory, Valley of Columbus was the Honoree for this Reunion and was received and welcomed by Illustrious Brother Ebby Brewer, Active Member for the Valley of Columbus, and Illustrious Brother Doug Kaylor, Deputy for Ohio. MWB Cokonougher expressed his gratitude for the class being named in his honor and his comments reflected his excitement for Freemasonry in Ohio to grow for all members.

The Board of Trustees of the Valley of Columbus wanted to give back to the community and presented the brethren with a Service Project. Over 60 cans of food were collected and donated to the Faith Mission on Grant Street in Columbus to help serve the homeless.

The next opportunity for degrees will be the Spring Reunion, Saturday, April 18th, 2015 as the plan is to bring degrees to and revisit the John Gilbert Reese Center at OSU Newark on that date. The Fall Reunion is scheduled for October 31st, 2015 to be held at Villa Milano Restaurant, 1630 Schrock Rd., Columbus. Set your calendars to join us on those dates!

Grove City Lodge Sub Sale BREAKS RECORD AGAIN!
Sub Sandwich
The numbers 3192, 73, and 6 may not mean anything to most of us, but to the members of Grove City Lodge, they represent their results of the latest sub sale. The number 6 represents about the number of hours it took for the 73 members and ladies to meet on Thursday, the 19th of November to assemble the 3192 subs, yes that is the correct number! This again sets a NEW RECORD of subs that were PRE SOLD this year!

Thanks to all who sold, helped throughout the week with the preparing the individual bags of ingredients, met on Thursday to assemble them, delivered afterward, and especially those who bought the subs.

If you missed out on these great tasting subs, mark your calendar for the next sale, deadline for ordering is Friday, January 23, and pickup is planned for Friday, January 30th, just in time for Super Bowl Sunday, February 1st.
