Antiques Appraisal Held

Just about 200 items were appraised at the first Antiques Appraisal that was held on Saturday, June 28th at the Aladdin Shrine Center. This gave those that brought their family heirlooms a chance to find out what value they held. The appraisers from Garth's Auction House in Delaware looked over the items brought in.

Thank you to the Committee for organizing this project. The Aladdin Shrine Multi-purpose Room was a fine facility and the Committee expresses their appreciation to the Illustrious Potentate and the Divan for it's use. Also, "Thanks" are extended to the Officers of the 14th District for their help with the different duties they performed.

Special Olympics Held
Faith Hope Charity
Friday evening, June 27th the opening of Special Olympics.  was held at the Jesse Owens Stadium at The Ohio State University. The brethren of Ohio started arriving for the fine meal of brats an burgers prepared by the Ohio Grotto Association. They also presented baked beans, potato salad, onions, tomatoes, and beverages.

Over 380 brethren throughout Ohio received the commemorative ball cap and lapel pin. The Grand Lodge officers and brethren led the parade followed by the Special Olympic Athletes. Officers, Sheriff's Deputies, Troopers of the Ohio Highway Patrol, cadets both of the OHP and Columbus Police Academies along with Motorcycle Units from throughout Ohio and Lawrenceburg, IN, and Mounted Units from local agencies escorted the Law Enforcement Torch Run into Jesse Owens Stadium. The Law Enforcement Torch Run is organized and continues to be planned by Br. Ed Buns, of Hamilton Police Department, Mason Masonic Lodge and Past State Master Councilor (1978-79) of Ohio DeMolay. After the Torch lit the caldron, MWB Mick, Grand Master of Masons presented a check to the Special Olympics officials in the amount of $175,000.00. This brings the total that the Brethren of Ohio Freemasonry has contributed since being involved with Special Olympics to nearly Three Million Dollars.
