14th District Blue Pages EXTENDS Ad Deadline
Faith Hope Charity
The 14th District Masonic Blue Pages is in need of advertisers!

The Executive Committee of the 14th Masonic District Officers Association has voted with the approval of the District Advisor, to extend the deadline for ads for the 2014 Blue Pages. The date is extended until May 15th. The Blue Pages will be printed over the summer and the Blue Pages will be distributed by the District Picnic in August and the quarterly District meeting on September 25th. There were not as many ads received as the January 31st deadline neared.

Please check with companies or services that you think would be worthy of advertising in the Blue Pages.

This is a very good way to share a business, service, or another fraternal organization. It's been stated recently that many brethren feel more comfortable dealing with a brother of the Fraternity. Thre have been times when looking for a specific project or business where referring to a resouce like this can help rather than just looking online or checking in the phone book.

The Blue Pages Ad From is available on the District Website or at the following link -

NOTICE - The INSIDE COVERS, BOTH FRONT AND BACK HAVE BEEN SOLD ALONG WITH THE BACK COVER. Ads can be sold for the remaining pages.

Please contact RWB Jeff Rannebarger, Chairman of the Blue Pages Committee at jrannebarger@earthlink.net about submitting an ad for the Blue Pages or also your current Jr. Warden who is the Lodge representative.

The deadline for submitting ads is now May 15th.

As a reference to help Lodges prepare for this GM Class, the Grand Lodge Membership Committee has issued a GM Class Manual which can be found at www.freemason.com/images/forms/gm-class-handbook.pdf . This information will aid in not only preparing the potential member as to what he will be gaining by his membership but also will help the Master Craftsman (mentor) in making sure his experience is worth returning back to his Lodge!

Mentors should plan to bring an apron, or aprons will be provided for a fee! Candidates aprons will be provided by their respective Lodge, and Lodges should please remember to bring the candidate's Holy Book.

Grove City Lodge plans Shooting Event

by SW Bill Bell

A date and time have been scheduled for the 1st annual Grove City Lodge Sporting Clays Fundraiser Shoot. The event will be held on Sunday May 18th at 10 a.m. at the Hidden Haven Shooting Preserve located at:

9291 Buckeye Troxel Road
Sugar Grove, OH 43155-9632

(Just south of Lancaster)

The cost of the shoot will be $50.00 per person.  This is for a full 100 clay pigeon round of shooting.  We are working on getting prizes donated for best shooters, best team, and maybe even a special challenge shot. Regardless of your shooting experience, this will undoubtedly be an extremely enjoyable day of fun, safety, laughter, and brotherhood.

If you or anyone you know who would be interested, we are offering station sponsorships (like hole sponsors in a golf outting) for $50 per station.  This will include an advertisement for your business or personal donation at a specific shooting station. These sponsorships are crucial as they will be the primary means of raising money for the charity we are looking to support (a couple of charities are being thought of and will be announced in future communications. If you know anyone that might like to sponsor a hole or donate prizes, please have them contact SW Bill Bell at the below email.

Some things to be thinking about prior to the shoot:

* Family, friends, coworkers, etc... are all invited to participate.

* You will need a 12", 16", 20", or 4/10" shotgun (Guns can be rented for $15.00 onsite)

* You will need 100 rounds of shotgun shells (4 boxes of 25) There will be ammunition available for purchase onsite but Walmart, Meijer, Buckeye Outdoors, Vance's... typically has them for much cheaper.

* Something to carry your shells in would be a good idea...small bag, trap vest, shotgun shell belt holder.  I have a couple shell holders that I will be bringing for people to use.

* We will have t-shirts printed up by Brother Fred Ford available for purchase onsite or during pre-registration.

Look for future emails and information in the District Newsletter. Thanks so much for your interest. Please contact SW Bill Bell at william.mane@gmail.com to reserve your spot or for more information.

York Rite Festival by WB Roscoe Smith

The York Rite Festival is coming! The York Rite Festival is coming!

The York Rite Festival is coming to your area soon! Are you ready to expand your knowledge in Masonry? Do you have what it takes t lead? This is truly a great way to develop your leadership skills and abilities. As a leader of these four Masonic bodies you will learn "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another" Proverbs 27:17.

Furthermore, what do you know of the Capitular Degrees, Cryptic Degrees and the Chivalric Orders? Well, on May 3, 2014, you will have the opportunity to Capture ALL Three York Bodies; Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, Council of Royal and Select Masons, and Commandery of Knights Templar in the one day class. This is a great opportunity in the York Rite to work towards and earn the title "Knight of the York Cross of Honor (KYCH)".
To become a Knight of the York Cross of Honor, one must be a Past Master of a Symbolic Lodge, a Past High Priest of a Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, a Past Master of a Council of Royal and Select Masters, and a Past Commander of a Commandery of Knights Templar, and be nominated by a member of Ohio Priory #18. Ohio Priory #18 is an invitational body composed entirely of "Knights of the York Cross of Honor.

You don't have to be a Past Master of a Lodge to join York Rite, but it has been said "all Christian men should be a York Rite Mason." If you have that hunger for more knowledge about this great fraternity, then the York Rite is exactly where you need to be. Many opportunities lay beyond the York Rite, but to get there, you must lay the stones for a good foundation.
A brief description of the degrees for the York Rite can be found at www.YorkRite.com/degrees .

We hope you will take the next step to becoming a York Rite Mason. We will be at the GM Class on April 5th to answer any questions you may have and our contact information can be found on Pg. 64 of the 14th District Directory. The location for the Festival will be at the Newark Masonic Building at 4th and Church Streets in Newark and all Degree Work will be completed by 5p.m. Further information as to degree times for the different bodies will be announced when details are completed.
