14th District "Blue Pages"

Faith Hope Charity
Advertising for the District Blue Pages is underway. Several brothers have submitted ads and this will continue until January 31st.

This is a very good way to share a business, service, or another fraternal organization. It's been stated recently that many brethren feel more comfortable dealing with a brother of the Fraternity. Thre have been times when looking for a specific project or business where referring to a resouce like this can help rather than just looking online or checking in the phone book.

Please contact RWB Jeff Rannebarger, Chairman of the Blue Pages Committee about submitting an ad for the Blue Pages or the Jr. Warden who is the Lodge representative.

We plan to distribute this at the Grand Master's Reception on March 8th

Lamp Square Compasses

One very important resource available free of charge to not only officers whether they are Wardens or just newly appointed to the line, but to anyone interested in maybe joining the officer line is www.Freemasonuniversity.com

This excellent educational section of the Grand Lodge website is designed to help with many aspects from Lodge administration, planning whether it's meeting agenda or for a term, to learning ritual.

Each section of Freemasonuniversity.com is structured to go at your own pace and can build on the previous lessons / subjects. This is worth utilizing to strengthen the leadership in your Lodge and as it is provided by just clicking to gain access this can be so useful

Public Relations Matching Funds Available
Money Clip Art

If your Lodge is looking to increase it's public awareness or community involvement which can also increase membership, funds are available from the Grand Lodge of Ohio. All it takes is planning!

WB Chad Simpson, Director of Programming announced at the Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge in October, that of the 498 Lodges in Ohio, only 19 took advantage of funds provided to help Lodges in local communities for the entire Masonic year of 2012-2013. The Grand Lodge PR committee has been authorized to match up to $200 of the cost to a Lodge to run some of the Image Ads in their local newspaper.

The procedure is as follows: Send a copy of the printed Image Ad with a copy of the bill to Chad Simpson at the Grand Lodge office. Grand Lodge will reimburse Lodge's expenses up to $200. In other words, a Lodge can get $400 worth of advertising for only $200. What a bargain!

The Public Relations section at the bottom the te Grand Lodge website, www.freemason.com has some ready made artwork available for use to help. If it's for a local newspaper, or an ad in a school athletics program, local drama production program or other community publication, this will increase your visibility and can attract potential members with most of the work having already been done.

Grove City Lodge Sets Record
Sub Sandwich

Thursday, November 21st, the Brethren of Grove City Lodge set a new record. Members of the Lodge along with officers, Past Masters, 65 year members sitting with the newest members, wives and widows all gathered starting at 8:00 a.m. and worked assembling for the Fall Sub Sale. By the time 1:30 p.m. rolled around, the 73 people in the Lodge had put together enough subs to best the previous 2 sub sales.

Before the last of the subs could be finished being completed, people were arriving to pick up their orders and deliveries were being made. Enough subs were made that a walk in refrigerator was needed to hold them. Congratulations to ALL who again made this such a success.

By the way, in case you were wondering how many were made for this sale, the total of 2664 subs were PRE SOLD for this sale. That beat the February amount of 2262 number by 402.

The next sub sale takes off next month in January just in time for the Super Bowl. To place your order, contact any officer or Br. Ed Goldhardt at 614-877-4176. Each sub includes ham, salami, peperoni, mozzarella and provolone cheeses. The lettuce, banana peppers, tomatoes and onion are individually packaged for your preference on a 12 inch bun with Italian dressing. The deadline for ordering is Saturday, January 25th. The subs will be ready for pick up by Friday the 30th, before the Super Bowl.

Grove City Lodge plans Shooting Event

by SW Bill Bell

It was a crisp fall afternoon on October 27th when six brethren of Grove City Lodge #689 met at Hidden Haven Shooting Preserve located in Sugar Grove, OH. The beautiful palette of changing autumn leaves was a picturesque backdrop as these men set out to ensure every small orange disc that came into view met it's demise. For the next two hours, the cool air was filled by howls of laughter and cheering as both experienced and new shooters enjoyed an afternoon of "golf...with a shotgun!"

Sporting clays is a variation of skeet/trap shooting where shooters traverse a course set up with different stations of clay pigeon launchers. A round typically consists of 50 or 100 rounds per person. Each station presents a new challenge for the shooter as clay pigeons can come from any direction. Some are launched from behind while others can be thrown directly overhead or roll on the ground simulating small game animals.

Hidden Haven Shooting Preserve is operated by WB Jeff and Jody Milligan. The shooters from Grove City Lodge were fortunate to have WB Milligan (PM of Bremen Lodge #608 in the 13th District) escort them around the property, share tips and pointers and take part in the comradery and hilarity often present amongst the brethren!

Plans are currently in progress for the spring of 2014 in which Grove City Lodge hopes to have brothers, family and friends join them for a district wide day of clay shooting. If you are interested in attending the event, and would like to be included in an email list for updates, please send an email to Br. SW Bill Bell at [email protected] .
