Grand Lodge Installs Officers for 2013-2014
Grand Lodg Seal

October 19th was the date that MWB Norman J. Mick of the 1st Masonic District in Hamilton County was installed as Grand Master of Masons in Ohio. The 14th District's own RWB Steven E. Cokonougher was elected and installed as Deputy Grand Master. MWB Mick was installed by MWB Michael Himes, PGM and has taken the theme of "FREEMASONRY... A Timeless Treasure".

A summary of legislation presented and voted on at the Annual Communication will be sent out to each Lodge by the Grand Secretary's Office.

District Deputies Grand Master Installed
Grand Lodg Seal
MWB Norman Mick, Grand Master of Masons has presented commissions to two new District Deputies Grand Master of the 14th District during the Installation of Grand Lodge Officers at the 204th Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge of Ohio as RWB Jeff Rannebarger retired concluding his term of 3 years.

RWB William E. Estell of Luther B. Turner Lodge #732 was installed on Friday, October 25th and RWB Timothy Wheeland of University Lodge #631 was installed on Tuesday, October 29th.

They were installed by RWB Steven E. Cokonougher, Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Ohio. We share our Congratulations and Best Wishes in their service to the brethren of the 14th District on behalf of the Grand Lodge of Ohio.

The 205th Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge will be held on Friday, October 17th and Saturday, October 18th, 2014 in Sharonville, OH.

RWB Rannebarger Thanks the 14th District Brethren

While sitting at the Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge of Ohio just a couple of weeks ago, I reflected back as I sat in Dayton on October 15th, 2010 in anticipation as I prepared to fulfill the position of District Deputy.

My sincere Thank You goes out to the so many brethren of the 14th Masonic District as I have concluded, by Code, the 3 separate year terms as a District Deputy Grand Master. It came to a conclusion as RWB Estell and RWB Wheeland received their Commissions at Grand Lodge and were subsequently installed.

As it was "their" night at their respective installations, I reserved commenting other than to pledge my support to both of them and to RWB Bolyard and RWB Stoots as they continue the work of the Grand Lodge in this district. I want to now take this time to share my gratitude for the position I held with enormous pride.

As has been said by many predecessors before me, I will certainly agree that "It went by so quickly!" I also strongly agree with those that have shared that a 3 year period is quite adequate for the position.

When I received a call by District Advisor, RWB Cokonougher, Deputy Grand Master, to meet with him, on a cold winter evening, I really didn't expect to be offered to take on such an important office. I didn't immediately accept, because this was not just my decision. I needed to check with, as she called it during my recent arm surgery "my right hand", my dear wife, Beverly. I was being asked to take on this responsibility, but she was also being asked to take this on as well. She has been very patient with me being gone as much as I have been. She has travelled with me as well over many miles and I deeply appreciate her for all her behind the scenes involvement and her guidance and conversations that have gone with this opportunity. This also needed discussing with our sons Don and Dan for their consideration as it was a family decision. Don would be taking many calls at the house and Dan would be seeing me throughout the travels. They both agreed that this was something worth accepting and their support, and counsel has been appreciated.

I sincerely Thank RWB Cokonougher for his selecting me for this position. It has been so very rewarding! As I mentioned back at Reynoldsburg's Inspection on April 18th, I remember as a young boy before joining DeMolay when my parents and I traveled with the Masonic Camping Club at the time and meeting RWB Richard McKeever, a Past DDGM. He was one of the first Masons I knew that wore the "purple bordered" apron. He had a lot of respect from the brethren and their spouses in the camping club. After joining DeMolay, and later becoming an advisor, I came to know many others throughout my 33 years in this Fraternity and I when approached by RWB Cokonougher, we talked about what it would entail, I never expected to be one of those brethren to be representing the 14th District like RWB McKeever. MWB Lattanner has shared with me on more than one occasion that a DDGM is the best "job" that one can have, and he is so correct in his comment!

I have met so many brethren within and outside the 14th District. I have enjoyed visiting all the 26 Lodges that were assigned to me. I have told Secretaries, Treasurers, Masters, officers, and brethren that I met that I thank them for the help that they have offered during pre-inspections and at different functions whether it is installing officers at a Lodge, attending Wives' / Widows night, going to Lodge dinners, Table Lodges, or Awards Nights, or presenting a 50 year pin to a brother from West Virginia earlier this year, or presenting a 60 year pin to a retired Priest that felt that this was so important to receive that award the he flew in from Maryland just for the occasion and made a public donation of $100.00 to his Lodge because it meant that much!

I have gotten to meet so many fine brethren and their ladies. It has been such a great experience. Several come to mind, but one other that stands out was when I was able to meet WB Michael Pollitt from the United Kingdom while he and his wife were visiting the "colonies". He wanted to visit an American Lodge and I'm so proud that he was able to visit one in the 14th District. There have also been times that it was more of a duty than a fun time being a DDGM. It came with the appointment and what was done was in the best interests of the Fraternity.

There are so many more brethren from the District Officers I have served with, to WB Jerry Marshall and WB Jeff Reese when we served together as District Education Officers. Serving with WB N. Crowell Shane, WB Ken Cohen, and WB Ward Weber as they continue as District Education Officers, and RWB Bill Schafer (when I was a DEO), RWB Jason Savage, RWB Frank Carson, RWB Brian Bolyard, and RWB Glenn Stoots as Deputies has been very significant as I learned from each of them. I represented MWB Terry Posey (term as DEO), MWB Bradford Goebel, MWB Kevin Todd, and MWB James Easterling Jr. as they served as Grand Masters of this Grand jurisdiction. I also learned from them.

It has truly been an honor to "serve" my brethren and I appreciate and respect more, those brethren and Past Deputies who came before me and I want to Thank them for adding so much to my life. As is stated in the DeMolay Installation Ceremony, when the Installing Officer presents the gavel to the new Master Councilor of the Chapter, "... you have emerged for a brief time from the ranks, and to the ranks you will soon return", is so appropriate to conclude this with as I "return" to the ranks. The brethren of Reynoldsburg will be seeing me more as I look so forward to visiting with them and you at Lodge meetings, at breakfasts and wherever our travels take us! Brethren of the Fabulous 14th District - THANK YOU!

Respectfully and Fraternally,
Jeff L. Rannebarger

One Line Signers for Directory

The 14th District Officers will soon be gathering information for the annual District Directory. You can help your Lodge by securing names at $5.00 per line. Now is the time to start getting those. Certainly the Annual Meeting of your Lodge is a great time also to acquire names of brethren, or in "Memory" or in "Honor" of brethren.

These help defray the cost of the Directory which has valuable information such as dates of the District Inspections, names of the Lodge Officers, where and when Lodges meet as well as other information. If each Lodge were to gain at a minimum of 20 names, this would definitely help keep the cost as it has been in the past - FREE! Your help is needed to get those signatures.

If you have questions or need a One Line Signer form, contact a District Officer or the form can be printed off from the District Website, www.14thmasonicdistrict.org and clicking on the "News" tab. The deadline to submit this form is November 19th.

14th District "Blue Pages"

Faith Hope Charity
The 14th District is bringing back the Masonic Blue Pages that was discontinued a few years back.

This is a very good way to share a business, service, or another fraternal organization. It's been stated recently that many brethren feel more comfortable dealing with a brother of the Fraternity. Thre have been times when looking for a specific project or business where referring to a resouce like this can help rather than just looking online or checking in the phone book.

Please contact RWB Jeff Rannebarger, Chairman of the Blue Pages Committee about submitting an ad for the Blue Pages or also current Sr. Deacon / incoming Jr. Warden is the Lodge representative to this committee.

New Ties / Vests
Masonic Ties

While at Grand Lodge Annual Communication, the 14th District revealed a new Tie and Vest for sale. It is similar to those on display in the photo here.

The color is a grey tie with maroon accents and come in bow ties style already tied or to be tied. Also available in the same color is a vest. The bow ties are $20.00 each for either style and $50.00 for the vest. Please see either on of the District Deputies for further inquiries.
