Arts in Nature exploratory students created art with natural paints made of turmeric, spinach, and beets. In addition to painting on paper, students painted on bark, sticks, stones, and other forest finds. Students also used these natural objects in place of a paint brush.

Knowing No Limits - SA's Annual Fund

Our 2016 - 2017 "Because Salisbury Academy Knows No Limits" Annual Fund has officially launched! Our goal this year is to raise $70,000 in support and reach 100% parent participation in this important fundraiser. Your support of Annual Fund directly impacts the enhancements to our academic, artistic, athletic, and extracurricular programming for the students of today and the thinkers, leaders, and scholars of tomorrow. Your tax-deductible gift is very important to us. Through your Annual Fund contribution, you will be supporting every aspect of our school's mission.
One of the key differences between a public school and a private independent school is the source of funding to meet an annual operating budget. Independent schools are exactly that: independent of public mandates for curriculum, staffing, and programs, and consequently, independent of government or corporate funding. Governed by a Board of Trustees, the annual operating budget is established to cover the basic expenses of a quality program designed to meet the school's mission. Through fundraisers like Annual Fund, Salisbury Academy can provide excellence because parents, past parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends collectively donate to help meet our goal for fundraising each year.

Annual Fund dollars allow Salisbury Academy to maintain excellence by enhancing our curriculum, technology, programs and campus facilities used by every student, every day.

Thank you for knowing no limits in your support of our school!  I invite you to make your pledge or donation today.

Sincerely,

Beverly Fowler, Head of School

Grandpersons' Day Sneak Preview
Grandpersons' Day 2016 Sneak Preview: Beatles Throwback

Music Director Dr. Rob is extremely excited about this year's Grandpersons' Day program on October 14, and he feels that the audience will also get into the show. Titled "When Jaguars Meet Beatles!," the program is a tribute to the Beatles and their rich, wide repertoire of music. Says the director, "I received a 'Meet the Beatles!' record album at the age of five for a present and, being the first record I owned, I would credit the Beatles as starting my serious passion for music."

Dr. Rob began planning the song list for the program last April and came in over the summer putting in a few "hard day's nights" to arrange all the music. "I thought that last year's Broadway tribute was going to be the 'Show of Shows' and that no future programs would exceed that depth and degree of difficulty music-wise...but here we go again. I believe this year is going to be a more challenging program than last year's. However, it'll be loads of fun for the students to work on and the audience to hear...and fun for me, of course!"

According to Dr. Rob, the Beatles were major gap-bridgers in music. Much like the way Beethoven almost single-handedly took music from the Classical period to the Romantic period, the Beatles transformed rock and roll music from its early stage of bubble gum pop music to the harder pressing sounds of rock music covering a variety of musical flavors and social issues. "There are not many individual artists or groups I would choose to build an entire show around, but it was easy with the Beatles' catalogue of music. I hope everyone will come and re-live, re-live, re-live!"
