Congress Advances Water Development Legislation
The Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works recently completed a revised draft of the Water Resources Development Act of 2016 (WRDA) and sent the bill to markup. The legislation (S. 2848) moved out of committee at record pace and now awaits approval by the full Senate. Read more...

Dublin San Ramon Services District (DSRSD) Board of Directors has appointed Daniel McIntyre to serve as the District's General Manager. A registered civil engineer, McIntyre has worked in the Tri-Valley for 26 years, including the last year as DSRSD's Engineering Services Manager. Read more...

The Dublin San Ramon Services District East Bay Municipal Utility District Recycled Water Authority Board of Directors appointed Michael Tognolini as Authority Manager, effective April 1, 2016, upon the retirement of James Bewley, who served in that position for ten years. Read more...
Napa Sanitation District & community leaders celebrate recycled water efforts.

Napa Sanitation District and its partners celebrated the completion of almost $50 million in recycled water projects. Dozens of people gathered at the treatment plant along the Napa River near the county airport on Monday for a morning ribbon-cutting event.

West County Wastewater District employees in their new garden.
The 
West County Wastewater District's "Employees for Community Alliance and Restoration of the Environment" (WECARE) Program hosted an Employee Earth Day 2016 event. They created an employee garden, utilizing repurposed toilets as planters and newly constructed planter boxes to grow a variety of vegetables. All the vegetables will be donated to the Bay Area Rescue Mission Kitchen. The WECRAE program is also hosting a Community Red Cross Blood Drive on June 23, 2016.

The Orange County Sanitation District (OCSD) is preparing a Biosolids Master Plan to recommend future biosolids management options and capital improvements for a 20-year planning period. To assist in evaluating these alternatives, they're conducting a workshop on Tuesday, May 17 to present the plan and hear from interested vendors. RSVP to Barbara Correa at (949) 458-1114, extension 6 by May 10. The Bay Area Consortium for Clean Water Education offers a scholarship program for Bay Area community college students. The scholarship covers tuition and books for those seeking a career in the Clean Water industry, and includes a scholarship for every student who maintains a grade of C or better in each course. The program includes a Plant Operator Certificate after  completing the required 28 units.
