A Note from Jo
Springtime at the English Rose.
Of all the seasons in Arizona, and let's face there are basically only two; Hot and Cold, Spring is by far my most favorite time of year.
Having just returned from almost a month in Italy, I can say without doubt that seeing the first blossoms on the trees in Tuscany, the first wild flowers poking through the hedgerows in Verona and the sound of bird song along the Ponte Vecchio it was all so wonderfully inspiring.
Oh, so too were all the fabulous works of art, the phenomenal cathedrals, churches, museums and galleries. Ah, I had also better mention the wine, the pasta, the tiramisu, and the wine, the pasta and even more tiramisu. Oh, and the cheeses, oh yes, and the prosciutto. I admit it, I ate my way around Italy.
The only thing I think I really missed out on was a decent cup of tea. But I did find a Tea Room, albeit the man behind the counter in this photo looks as though he is half asleep. The Tea Room even served some of the same old favorites as the English Rose.

Now that I have arrived back in Arizona, it's to similar welcoming signs of a new season. My roses came out while we were away, the quail are looking for places to nest, and at the Tea Room can you believe we are only one week away from Mother's Day.
Psst. By the way, in case you missed it, we celebrated our 11th Anniversary at the Tea Room recently, my how the time flies.
So, as we begin the new month of May, there are lots of new things to look forward to both in the Tea Room and in our sister store, jo london.
Mark your calendars and call for a reservation for Mom and make a point of checking out our plans for the impending arrival of the Royal Baby.

Kate's baby is due in July, which means we are planning a huge baby shower for her and you are all invited! We are predicting a girl with the names Alexandra and Diana somewhere in the long list of names that she will be given.
As well as celebrating with Afternoon Tea, we are encouraging all our guests to bring a bag of diapers to the party, (or anything else fit for a newborn). Feel free to bring diapers and gifts for baby boys AND girls. Rumor has it she is expecting twins!
A baby shower gift will ensure you can write in our special 'baby advice' book that will be mailed to the Palace as soon as the party is over. Then, all the accumulated diapers and gifts will be re-gifted to the women's shelters in the Phoenix area.

We also hope to build the largest collection of "diaper cakes" ever seen with all the donated diapers!
So, next time you are in the grocery store, grab a bag of baby goodies and come to the Tea Room to celebrate the impending arrival of our newest heir to the throne.
And if you can't make the party, just drop off your diapers or gifts and sign the book of well wishes anyway. We want Kate to know just how many people are thinking about her and wishing her good luck from Arizona.
