Greetings!
The old is gone, the new has come. As I replaced 15-year old oven mitts with new ones given to me by my husband, I was made aware of our desire for new things. Our God is a God who makes all things new. And this Christmas, inspired to have the celebration of His birth not be outdone by cultural norms and family traditions, I asked family if we could introduce a new pattern into our Christmas Day activities - that of reading one of the gospels, beginning this year with the gospel of John, in it's entirety. It took discipline and energy to stop the Christmas train headed to the North Pole and instead, make what initially felt like a detour to Bethlehem. However, it was amazing what unfolded before us as 8 people took turns participating in the reading. May the faithful message and eternal hope of "Immanuel, God with us!" do a renewing work in each of us this coming year as we step into a new year and a new theme for the Way of Life newsletter - "Walking in Renewal." We look forward to having you join us in 2013!
