In the 1990's an up and coming technology appeared in the carpet cleaning world... encapsulating polymers... these polymers surround and crystalize soil within the carpet immediately forming a dry residue on contact (acting like 'tiny sponges'). This greener way of deep-cleaning actually surrounds the dirt making it easier to remove.
The polymers are introduced into the carpet via a low moisture process using rotary machines or brush applicators. The lack of wet residue, commonly associated with conventional 'wet' carpet cleaning methods, significantly reduces drying times.
Encapsulation technology allows the carpet to put back into service immediately, eliminating inconvenience to the client.
The IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning & Restoration Certification) approves encapsulation for several reasons: it is extremely favorable in terms of the lack of wet residue and in meeting high-traffic needs. The process also improves carpet appearance compared to other methods.
