All individual Medicare Part B fee-for-service providers are potentially subject to the 2016 PQRS payment adjustment if they fail to meet the 2014 PQRS reporting requirements.
Individual Part B providers working for more than one organization need to meet the PQRS reporting criteria for each TIN under which they submit claims in 2014 to avoid all potential 2016 PQRS payment adjustments.
Murer recommends that all eligible Part B providers register and participate as a group using the Group Practice Reporting Option (GPRO). By doing so, all providers who submit Medicare Part B claims under that TIN may avoid the 2016 payment adjustment. In addition, reporting is limited to three measures covering a single NQS domain for 50% of the group practice's Medicare Part B fee-for-service patients (exceptions for some measure groups).
Registration for the GPROs opened April 1, 2014. Eligible groups must register by September 30, 2014 in order to qualify. Murer recommends that all eligible groups register as soon as possible to ensure ample time to fulfill the 2014 PQRS reporting requirements.
Murer can help navigate the challenges of the Group Practice Reporting Option (GPRO) requirements, qualified registry reporting, and claims reporting, as well as any other PQRS or CMS incentive program needs. Murer serves as an incentive program regulatory expert, including for the PQRS and EHR Incentive Programs, for numerous eligible providers nationwide while ensuring program compliance.
