Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful: Make A Difference Day! 
Volunteers are needed for Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful's Make A Difference Day on Oct. 12! Volunteers should meet at the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce at 2516 North St. at 8:20 a.m. Please wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty! Projects will be completed by late morning.

CASA Superhero 5K Fun Run 
CASA of Deep East Texas is looking for volunteers for its annual 5K & Kids Fun Run at Pecan Park on Nov. 9. Volunteers are needed to assist with set-up, activity or entertainment booths for kids, and course guidance.

Proceeds earned during this event will help out CASA, which speaks up for children in courthouse settings, children who have become victims of abuse and those who have been placed in foster care.

Alternative Spring Break applications due this Thursday 
Alternative Spring Break is now accepting applications for our spring 2014 trip! This program offers students an opportunity to get away for Spring Break while providing service to the community they visit. In addition to service hours, students who participate in Alternative Spring Break gain leadership and teamwork skills that are invaluable. Students will have opportunities to fundraise for trip costs, and all students regardless of volunteer background are welcome to apply. Previous groups have traveled to Hot Springs, Ark., Long Beach, Miss., and New Orleans, La.

Relay for Life  
It's time to make noise in the fight against cancer! Sign-ups for the 2014 Relay For Life are online and ready for action! This year's Relay for Life will be on March 24.

This year, Relay For Life is thanking you for years of past support by offering a 50 percent discount to those who sign up online before 11:50 p.m. on Sept. 30. Simply type the word "relay" into the discount code field where it states "Enter your company registration fee code here."

Volunteers needed for Color Up 5K

Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful is looking for volunteers to help out with the Color Up 5K on Oct. 5. Volunteers should report to Pecan Park at 7:30 a.m. wearing clothes they wouldn't mind getting dirty. Volunteers should plan to stay until noon. This is a convenient opportunity for organizations to gain a lot of community service at one time!

4th annual Thanksgiving Homebound  
Jacks Council on Family Relations is sponsoring the 4th annual Thanksgiving Homebound and is looking for donors to help feed low income families from Head Start and Solid Foundation in the Nacogdoches community. Donors will be given a list of suggested non-perishables to buy for a family to help out with their Thanksgiving dinner.
