A security system that protects our properties should be durable and reliable. It shall not be easily tampered or cheated by imposter. Data and records stored on the system should be encrypted and accessed by authorized user only.
A good security system should have features against vandalism. Take AccuFACE for example, it doesn't have screw and opening on its housing. This reduces the possibility of system tampering. AccuFACE's transparent front plate is made by a special optical material which is quite strong and durable. The plate has 5H hardness and it can protect AccuFACE's video capturing module and LCD display from physical impact. Furthermore, AccuFACE has built-in invisible tamper alarm. It will be triggered as soon as AccuFACE is removed from its installation location.
Recently, there was news about intruder trying to cheat access control system by using photos or realistic masks.
To anticipate imposter from cheating the system, AccuFACE is designed to counter different fraud scenarios:
1) Photo spoofing
- If a color photo of a registered user is placed in front of AccuFACE, the photo is registered as a blurry image on AccuFACE's LCD screen
- If a black & white photo of a registered user is placed in front of AccuFACE, the photo may appear on AccuFACE LCD screen. However, AccuFACE would not perform recognition because the IR reflection of a photo is different from the reflection of a real person. AccuFACE can sense the difference and reject the photo-spoofing attempt.
2) Sculpture of a registered user
- A sculpture of a registered user cannot cheat AccuFACE. This is because the eyes of the sculpture are quite different from the eyes of a real person in terms of color and reflection to IR light. In addition, the IR reflection of sculpture surface is different from human skin. Based on these differences, AccuFACE is capable to distinguish sculpture against registered users.
It is critical to protect biometric and event log data stored on the security device. To avoid misuse or tampering of data in the system, user facial data stored on AccuFACE is encrypted.
From a network security perspective, AccuFACE supports these counter-measures:
- No Telnet or similar backdoor function is supported.
- Any failed user login to AccuFACE Web interface will be recorded in the event log. Information such as date, time, IP address of the source (which can be used to track the attack) will be recorded.
AccuFACE has one key advantage over other biometric systems. If intruder tries to cheat the system, AccuFACE can easily capture facial image of the intruder. Such information is very useful to system administrator and law enforcement to find out who the intruder is.
In conclusion, AccuFACE has different security features to protect it from vandalism, intruder cheating, and network attack. PSP Security would continue to improve AccuFACE security features to make it a reliable system to protect your properties and safety.
