O.P. Fun Fact

Did you know that the first known stapler was handmade in the 18th century in France for King Louis XV. Each of the staples used in the first stapler machine was handcrafted and inscribed with the royal court's insignia. Moving forward a few hundred years, the stapleless staplers have been in existence since 1910. These don't use metal fasteners, but rather punches a small flap of paper and weaves it secure. As with all of your other office products, you can get a variety of traditional and stapleless staples from Office360!

Father's Day and Fun Facts!
June, 2015 Newsletter
Greetings!

Welcome to June! It's hard to think that 2015 is already half over. Time flies! This June the world has it's eye on the World Cup, while the United States is deciding it's allegiance in the Stanley Cup Finals and NBA Championships. But more importantly, June is home to that day to celebrate Dads in every shape and form. See below on how to give back to your Office Dads and  check out a book that will give you more fun facts about office supplies than you ever wanted!
Happy Father's Day!

In the US, Father's Day was originated by Sonora Smart-Dodd when she listened to a Mother's Day sermon in 1909 in Spokane, WA. Sonora wondered why there was no day to celebrate fathers while mothers got their own day in May. Sonora's mother died during childbirth when she was 16. Her father raised the newborn and five other children on his own from then on. Sonora began a rigorous campaign to celebrate Father's Day in the US. Spokane celebrated its first Father's Day on June 19, 1910. Though there was initial hesitation, the idea gained gradual popularity all over the US and Fathers' Day came to be celebrated in cities across the country. This year's Father's day is Sunday, June 21st. One way to show your dad that you love him is by getting him free stuff! Office360 wants to help you with that by giving you freebies for buying your normal office products. If he is interested in a free tablet/iPad case and stand, Dairy Queen Gift Card, or a chance to WIN A $10,000 DREAM CRUISE, Office360 has you covered. More Than You Ever Wanted To Know About Office Supplies!
Have you ever wanted to know more fun facts about office supplies than ever necessary?  Now you can with "The Perfection of the Paper Clip: Curious Tales of Invention, Accidental Genius, and Stationery Obsession" by James Ward. It's a book. About office supplies. And it's awesome. Specifically, this book explains how things like paper clips, staplers, pencils, pens and others were developed. Wards  dry wit and charming obsession with "these objects that we take for granted" results in a spectacular page turner. Post-it Notes, for example, came about by accident when a chemist at 3M's research lab messed with a formula and ended up with a weak adhesive. Did you know modern business cards evolved from a hybrid of early tradesman's cards and 19th-century visiting cards? And the peculiar American paper format? It's based on the size of the frame a 17th-century Dutch paper maker could handle (17-by-44 inches). A quarter of a sheet produces the U.S. letter size that has remained virtually unchanged for centuries. The book also debunks a few popular stationery myths, too. (NASA spent nothing developing the Space Pen and Ernest Hemingway never touched a Moleskine notebook). Ward also highlights cultural differences.  In the US, "erasers on pencils are the default; in Europe, they are the exception." And, of course, our friends in Britain don't call erasers "erasers." Don't be alarmed if you are asked for a rubber, though. So if you want to brush up on your office products knowledge, look no further!
Thank you for spending a little of your day with Office360. Please note, in celebration of the holiday, Office360 will be CLOSED Friday, July 3rd in honor of the National Holiday. Have a great June!

Sincerely,
