Message from the Chair
The Institute of Medicine Report on Primary Care and Public Health cited a number of initiatives, notably in New York City, as best practice examples to improve the health of populations. We have learned over the years that improving the health of populations must take us out of the ivory tower of the academic health center to the core of the communities we serve and that we must partner with other agencies to address the social determinants of health, promote health and make resources easily accessible to children and families. Our Obesity Prevention program, Latch-ON, and Teens in NYC are three marvelous examples of the efforts happening at MICH, all of which entailed collaboration with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.  The Center for Brain and Behavior at Maimonides Infants and Children's Hospital is dedicated to providing the best possible care in diagnosis and management of children with epilepsy. We provide a compassionate environment for families and children with epilepsy of all age groups, from infancy to adulthood. Read More > MICH is offering a neuropsychological assessment service for children, adolescents and young adults. These evaluations are appropriate for youth experiencing learning difficulties or other cognitive issues, such as memory or attention problems. Family Centered Care
Maimonides Infants & Children's Hospital Cancer Center featured on Channel 12 News! Sunrise on Wheels is a year-round program currently based in 6 area hospitals. Currently sponsored by the Brooklyn Nets at Maimonides, Sunrise volunteers have been bringing the fun of camp right into the outpatient infusion area for the past five years. On a weekly basis, the organization provides recreational activities for patients and their siblings, which has been invaluable for our children and families undergoing treatment. Watch Video>
