RUPCO 2014 Community Lunch
Community Lunch Highlights

Thank you!

Community Lunch 2014 educated a sold-out crowd of 166 people at Saugerties' Diamond Mills Hotel with keynote Ted Houghton, Executive Deputy Commissioner at NYS Homes & Community Renewal. "The message, supportive housing is the solution, came together today," noted RUPCO CEO Kevin O'Connor. See the video above, produced by Brandon Childs Media, for a snapshot of the luncheon. Also, a shout of THANKS to PREMIUM SPONSOR:

Overcoming Homelessness in UC
Handmade homeless
The Continuum of Care, a regional group of service providers working with the homeless community, will hold its annual meeting on December 3 from 3-5 pm at The Kirkland, 2 Main Street, Kingston. A discussion on "Overcoming Homelessness in Ulster County" will direct the conversation around what's happening now, where the gaps are, and what lies ahead.
A Sign of the Times?
Application Support Day

RUPCO opened the application period for the Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8) Waiting List lottery on Monday, November 17. In less than 72 hours, we distributed 2500 hard copy applications in English, another 250 in Spanish. Activity online was so high, our website crashed temporarily. Once back up, over 2000 visitors checked in; mind you, our daily average is about 250 visitors. With a large segment of Ulster County residents eligible for rental assistance, it's no wonder demand runs high for programs like this. RUPCO currently administrates 1458 Ulster County vouchers. Of those participants, 1,107 are female heads of household, 482 elderly, and 892 disabled. If you know someone who may benefit from the HCV, share an application, go online or drop in at the Application Support Day on November 21 or December 11. Is this a sign of the times?

The New American Dream
RUPCO Storytelling - Jenetta
RUPCO Storytelling - Jenetta

Since she was six, Jenetta Connors has dreamt of owning a home, a #NewAmericanDream. Owning wasn't just about the new bathroom or backyard, it centered on her kids, her dogs and her sense of belonging. Listen to how Jenetta worked with RUPCO to make her dream come true.

If you're a first-time homebuyer ready to live in the City of Kingston, you're in luck. Mayor Shayne Gallo is officially announcing at a press conference on Wednesday, November 26 that the City is receiving a second NYS Homes & Community Renewal grant for $350,000. RUPCO will be collaborating with City Hall to encourage homeownership -- be it Uptown, Midtown, or Downtown. For more information, call (845) 331-9860.
