CSHS Student Council Blood Drive Feb. 18
The CSHS Student Council’s annual Blood Drive is Thursday, Feb. 18 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the CSHS Lecture Hall. Click here to reserve your time slot, although walk-ins are welcome. The blood drive, sponsored by Carter Blood Care, is open to students, staff, parents and anyone willing to donate. Sign-up now, time slots are filling up.

CISD Students Selected to Perform at the Confucius Institute’s New Year Celebration
Three Mandarin class students, Chantal Meyer, Elizabeth Jory, and Grace Richmond, were selected to perform at DFW Confucius Institute’s 2016 Chinese New Year Celebration. The students will perform a singing/dancing/Taichi number at UT Dallas’ Clark Center on Saturday, Feb. 26, from 2:30–5 p.m. Admission is free, but advanced reservation is required. Dragon Debate Team Earning Top Performances
The Carroll Dragon Debate team recently competed in the UIL State Congressional Debate Tournament at the University of Texas in Austin.Junior Emma Lin and Dru Patel were both finalists finishing 10th and 12th overall, respectively among all Class 6A state competitors. Dragon Cheer Excels at UIL State Competition
Carroll Dragon Cheer competed in the first pilot program for UIL for state cheer competitions over the MLK weekend.  With 96 participating schools in the Class 6A Division, Dragon Cheer finished the preliminaries with 2nd place in Band Dance, 4th place in Fight Song, 5th place in Cheer Chant and 2nd place cumulative overall. Dragon Cheer finished 8th in the State Championship finals.

Carroll Basketball Friday Includes Coaches vs. Cancer Support Night
The Carroll basketball teams host rival Coppell on Friday at Carroll Senior High School. The Lady Dragons play at 6:30 p.m. and the Dragons start at 8 p.m. Friday's games will help support Coaches vs. Cancer and include "White Out Night" for fans and a T-shirt giveaway. Donations will be accepted during the game as Dragon cheerleaders will pass buckets to collect donations on a Beat The Clock Challenge. During lunch on Friday, basketball team members will collect donations for the event.

School Board Filing Underway for May Election
Filing began Wednesday for three Places on the Carroll Independent School District Board of Trustees. Two seats – Places 6 and 7, held by Matt Kormann and Christopher Archer, respectively – are three-year terms. The Place 1 seat held by Trustee Michele Moore is a one-year unexpired term. The deadline to file for a place on the ballot is Feb. 19. The election is held the first Saturday in May, which is May 7. Read more on MySouthlakeNews.com.

Community News: Mid-Cities Panhellenic Sorority Interest Meeting
Mid-Cities Panhellenic is hosting its annual Sorority Recruitment Forum on Feb. 21 from 3–5 p.m. in the Youth Building at First Baptist Church of Colleyville. The invitation is extended to all HS senior girls interested in sorority recruitment.
