SPARK Meeting Tonight Covers Reducing Stress
SPARK will host a meeting "Reducing Stress" from 7:30-9 p.m. tonight at The Marq, located at 285 Shady Oaks Drive in Southlake. The event is free and will help parents become educated on how to recognize stress at all ages. The meeting will feature Tina DeVincenzo, owner of Think Tank and Tammie Shelton from Cook Children's.

TEDxYouth@Carroll Showcased Variety of Student Speeches
Carroll Senior High School recently hosted TEDxYouth@Carroll and it featured 14 speeches by Dragon students on a vareity of topics.This has become an annual event in Carroll ISD and was organized by Carroll senior Marshall Richardson and Carroll High School teacher Karen Otto. Dragon Cheer Excels at UIL State Competition
Carroll Dragon Cheer competed in the first pilot program for UIL for state cheer competitions over the MLK weekend.  With 96 participating schools in the Class 6A Division, Dragon Cheer finished the preliminaries with 2nd place in Band Dance, 4th place in Fight Song, 5th place in Cheer Chant and 2nd place cumulative overall. Dragon Cheer finished 8th in the State Championship finals. 

Dragon Drama Hosts Acting with the Stars Fundraiser
Join Dragon Drama for their first ever Acting With the Stars Fundraiser. In what is sure to be a packed house, 10 local celebrities will pair up with Carroll’s brightest theatrical stars to recreate scenes and compete for the chance to be crowned Carroll’s first Acting With the Stars winner. The Dragon Drama fundraiser will take place on Thursday, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m. in the CSHS Auditorium. Click here for more information.

Carroll Student’s Drone Flies High
Carroll High School students from Mr. Nathman’s Digital & Interactive Media class successfully launched and flew a drone they had assembled themselves. The drone demonstration took place on Tuesday, Jan. 19, at Carroll High School, but these students had been working on the drone assembly since October. Click here to read more.

District Announces Preschool Enrollment for 2016-2017 School Year
Preschool registration packets for the 2016-2017 school year will be available online beginning Feb. 1. CISD Blended Preschool Program is open to all three and four year olds who are eligible to attend Carroll ISD. Selection is completed through a lottery enrollment process. A Preschool Information Night will be held on Jan. 28 at 5:30 p.m. at Rockenbaugh Elementary. School Board Filing for May Election Underway: Deadline Feb. 19
Filing began last Wednesday for three Places on the Carroll Independent School District Board of Trustees. Two seats – Places 6 and 7, held by Matt Kormann and Christopher Archer, respectively – are three-year terms. The Place 1 seat held by Trustee Michele Moore is a one-year unexpired term. The deadline to file for a place on the ballot is Feb. 19. The election is held the first Saturday in May, which is May 7. Read more on MySouthlakeNews.com. On the first day of filing, Archer and Moore both filed. Kormann filed last Thursday.

Dragon Cheer Mock Tryout Clinic
Attend the one-day clinic before cheerleading tryouts to learn about high school (JV) and senior high (Varsity) cheer programs from the Cheer Sponsors and current cheerleaders. The clinic will be on Wednesday, Feb. 10 from 4 –7 p.m. at the Carroll Senior High School Auxiliary Gym, with a parent Q&A from 6:30–7 p.m. The clinic is open only to current 7th–11th grade students. Mark Your Calendar: Meeting for Middle School Athletes Interested in Tennis
All Carroll and Dawson Middle School athletes interested in playing tennis this spring need to attend a mandatory parent meeting at Carroll Senior High School's Student Activity Center on Feb. 3 from 6-7 p.m. All athletes need a current physical on file in order to participate. CEF Welcomes New Board Members & Offers Spring Internship
As Carroll Education Foundation enters its 20th Anniversary in supporting Carroll Independent School District, many plans are in motion to make 2016 a very successful year for our students. CEF is honored to have six new board members join the organization: Ed Bunner, Heather DeLapp, Julie Doyle, Benjamen Dyer, Mary O’Toole and Paul Venesky. The group is made up of CISD parents, community volunteers and business professionals that bring skills and experience that lend to the current goals of the organization. Want a keepsake with the history of Dragon football? Get a copy of the the new Dragon Football book now available for purchase at the Carroll ISD Administration Center, located at 2400 North Carroll. This 127-page book is a comphrensive look at one of the nation's premier football programs. The cost is $25 per book and can be purchased by cash, check or credit (includes service charge). All proceeds benefit the Southlake Historical Society and the We Care teacher appreciation program. The administration center is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.
