Carroll Senior Named Debate Champion
The annual Tournament of Champions is referred to as the Super Bowl of high school debate and this past weekend, Carroll ISD senior Azhar Hussain was named Congressional Debate Champion, a first title for Carroll ISD. Event details and pictures of the winners are posted on MySouthlakeNews.com.

STAAR/EOC Testing Next Week

Summer School Registration Begins
Registration for Summer School at Carroll Middle School started Monday. Click here for the registration form and more details about Carroll's summer school. Registration and tuition must be paid by June 1.

Mandarin Chinese Scholar at Carroll Places High at Contest
The annual Chinese Bridge competition was held last weekend in Dallas and Carroll junior Amanda Beeck came in second place. She competed against students from 10 other states. Beeck gave a two minute speech in Chinese, successfully answered questions about culture and performed a Chinese talent to receive top praise from judges. Lady Dragon Softball Playoff Game Friday
The Carroll Lady Dragon softball team opens the Class 6A playoffs with a first-round game vs. Cedar Hill at 7 p.m. Friday at Cedar Hill, located at 1 Longhorn Blvd. The District 7-6A champion Lady Dragons finish the regular season tonight vs. L.D. Bell. The teams will play the game at Kennendale at 6 p.m. Follow Lady Dragon softball on Gamechanger.

Dragon Art Students Make Headlines
This year’s Visual Arts Scholastic Event was held in Dallas last weekend and two Carroll students, Sabrina Del Rosario and Jack De Busk received top prizes. Del Rosario earned a gold medal for her art entry and De Busk placed first in a 3D workshop competition. Click here for more information about VASE. Also this past weekend, two students received awards at Southlake’s annual Art in the Square student art competition. Serina Taluja won the Grand Prize Lone Star Artist Award and J.C. Patino won Honorable Mention. Happening this weekend: six other Dragon art students will be attending the 2015 Congressional Art Competition in Grapevine on Saturday, May 2 from 4- 5 p.m.

SAGT Hosting Roadmap To Your Child's Success Wednesday
The Southlake Association for Gifted and Talented will host Roadmap To Your Child's Success on Wednesday, April 29 at 9:30 a.m. at the Carroll ISD Administration Center, located at 2400 North Carroll. Topics for discussion include: K-12 GT/Quest Program Design; Advanced Academics; ITBS/CogAT Testing; Math/Science Course Selection. CISD administrators Gina Peddy and Mary Pruitt will be presenting. Admission is free for SAGT members and $10 for non-members.

CISD Guest Speaker on Wellness Gives Repeat Presentation Tonight
Don’t miss a second opportunity to hear former Carroll ISD counselor Annie Tam, M.Ed., LPC speak about the importance of adolescent wellness. Tam presented this morning and will offer the same presentation tonight at 7 p.m. inside the Carroll High School Lecture Hall located at 800 White Chapel. CMS Mandatory Cheer Informational Meeting May 7
If you are interested in becoming a Carroll Middle School cheerleader for the 2015-2016 school year, please attend a mandatory informational meeting at 6 p.m. in the Student Activity Center at CMS on May 7. Athletic Physical Information for 2015-2016
Physicians, nurses, and physical therapists from All-Star Orthopaedics, as well as other local physicians, will be working together for physicals for CISD athletes. The cost of the physical is $30, with all the proceeds benefiting Carroll ISD Athletics. Click here for more information including the physical dates.

Carroll’s Theatre Production “Scenes From A Chorus Line” Opens May 1
Tickets are on sale for Carroll Theatre’s production, “Scenes from A Chorus Line,” a stunning musical about a chorus auditioning for a Broadway musical. Come see why so many theatre goers were entranced by this “singular sensation.” Performances will be held on Friday, May 1 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday May 2 at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30pm at Carroll Senior High Auditorium. Tickets are $15 and available for purchase at www.dragondrama.net. Open seating will be available and all are welcome. This is the final performance of the year for Carroll Theatre.
