Dragons Begin STAAR Testing Monday
Beginning Monday, Carroll ISD students will begin state testing for the 2014-2015 school year. This spring, students in elementary and middle school will begin STAAR testing and high school students will take End-of-Course exams. Read dates and testing information on MySouthlakeNews.com.

Dragon Softball “Teal Out” Game Tonight
The Carroll Lady Dragon softball annual “Teal Out” game is tonight. The JV game starts at 5:30 p.m. and the Varsity starts at 7:15 p.m. The cancer awareness game is in memory of Patti Walter, a team mom during the 2013 season who passed away last month. Help support the fight against the disease and help the Lady Dragons softball team raise money. The players will be raising money to throw a pie at CHS Principal P.J. Giamanco between games. The team will also host a bake sale and Grubbs Infiniti will donate $20 for every test drive.

Carroll Theatre Competes in One-Act Play Saturday
Carroll Theatre will compete Saturday in the UIL One-Act Play against six other schools. The competition will be held at Coppell High School, located at 185 W. Parkway Blvd. The event begins at 1 p.m. and Carroll will be the last school to perform. Please plan to arrive no later than 5:30 p.m. as the doors will close once the Dragons take the stage.

Carroll Soccer Teams Win Playoff Openers

CHS Schedule Altered Next Week Due to Testing
Carroll High School will have an altered schedule on Monday and Wednesday, April 1. On the day that your student is testing, he or she will need to bring a sack lunch. Read more details about the schedule on MySouthlakeNews.com.

Drumline Community Performance Tonight
The Carroll Drumline hosts a free community performance Friday in the Carroll High School Gym starting at 8:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend. The Drumline will be competing Saturday at 7:45 p.m. in the Indoor Drumline Championships Competition at Burleson Centennial High School. Tickets to this event are $10 and visitors are encouraged to arrive early. The Carroll Colorguard is also competing, with an evening performance at Denton High School tomorrow starting at 6:15 p.m.

Dragon Golf Wins District 7-6A Title
The Carroll Dragon golf team added another district championship to the program’s accolades. The boys’ teams earned the top two spots at the District 7-6A tournament and the Carroll Black earned the championship finishing 10 under par as a team. Dragon Tennis Team Placement Dates Set
Initial tryouts for incoming freshmen or anyone not currently on the JV or Varsity team will be held July 23-24 from 8-10 a.m. Those who qualify for a Varsity or JV tryout will need to be present the following week of July 27-31. Athletes who wish to make the JV or Varsity teams must be present during tryouts. All participants must have a current physical on file with the CISD athletic trainers or have one on the day of tryouts. Tennis in CISD is a ‘no cut’ sport which means those who do not make the JV or Varsity team will be placed in our developmental PE Tennis class. 

SPARK Meeting Monday Regarding Youth Injuries
SPARK will host its rescheduled meeting Monday from 7:30-9 p.m. at the Carroll High School lecture room. Adults and teens are invited to attend. The meeting will discuss youth injuries, the signs of overuse and what you need to know about concussions.

College Lacrosse Game Coming to Dragon Stadium
Dragon Stadium will host a Division I lacrosse game featuring Bellarmine University vs. Air Force at 12 p.m. Saturday, April 4. The game will feature six Texas players. Tickets are available at southlakelacrosse.org.

Community News: Greenfest, Easter in the Park Saturday
Two big annual events return Southlake on Saturday. The City of Southlake’s Easter in the Park kicks off at 9:30 a.m. at North Park on East Dove Road.
