Candidate Files for CISD Trustee Place 5
Danny Gilpin filed Monday as a candidate for this year's General Trustee Election in Place 5. The filing period ends Friday, Feb. 27 at 5 p.m. Complete details including applications for a place on the ballot and other forms are available on the CISD website.
School Board Meeting Tonight
The Carroll ISD School Board will hold its regularly scheduled meeting at 5:30 p.m. tonight in the CISD Board Room, located at 2400 North Carroll. View tonight's agenda here. Video of the board meeting will be posted Tuesday here.
Carroll Among Winners at UIL Academic Meet
The Carroll Dragons took home third place in overall standings at the Denton Ryan High School UIL B Invitational Meet. Carroll placed third out of 25 competing schools. Team and individual results are posted on MySouthlakeNews.com. The next round of competition will be the District Meet.

CSHS Art Students Advance in UIL Competition
Carroll Senior High School art students brought home over 60 medals following last weekend’s Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) at the regional level last weekend. 44 students participated in the competition and all scored in the top half of the rankings. Lady Dragons Face SGP in Basketball Playoffs Tuesday
The Carroll Lady Dragons face South Grand Prairie at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Thomas Coliseum in Haltom City in a Class 6A bi-district playoff. Carroll is coming off an undefeated District 7-6A run and SGP finished in fourth place in 8-6A.
Relay For Life Southlake Informational Meeting Wednesday
Join Carroll ISD and the American Cancer Society for an information meeting Wednesday, Feb. 18 from 6-7 p.m. at the CISD Administration Center to learn more about Relay For Life Southlake. Dragons Go Red Blood Drive Thursday
This year Carroll ISD is teaming up with Carroll Senior High School Student Council for a district wide blood drive. The drive will be Thursday, Feb. 19 at CSHS. Click here to make a reservation online. The Blood Drive is part of Dragons Go Red during the month of February. Additional Dragons Go Red activities include weekly emails from CISD Health Services, and donations to the American Heart Association for the opportunity for staff to wear jeans on Thursdays throughout the month. Carroll Jazz Orchestra Featured in Upcoming Weekend Jazz Festival
Students in Carroll’s Jazz Orchestra join UNT’s prestigious One O’Clock Lab Band for the APEX Arts League’s annual Jazz Festival. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 21 at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Students from Naaman Forest and Rowlett High Schools will also participate in the concert. Donations are $10 at the door for adults and $5 for students, seniors and Apex members. For more information visit Apex-Arts.org.

Carroll Hosting North Texas Region OM Tourney
Mark your calendars for Creativity on Saturday, Feb. 28 when CISD hosts the North Texas Region Odyssey of the Mind Tournament at Carroll High School from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A record 68 teams from across North Texas will compete, including 23 teams from Carroll. Read more on MySouthlakeNews.com.
