Dear Members: As the saying goes, time flies when you are having fun. I have enjoyed this first quarter of FPANC events and therefore, the time has seemed to pass in the blink of an eye. This first quarter has brought us closer to the three goals that the board of directors set for 2017. Thank you for your support and help in getting us closer to our objectives. As a reminder, we are here for you and want to make sure you see the value in your membership with our association. In this short amount of time for 2017, the board has had three successful meetings, a joint mixer with the South Placer Estate Planning Council, Advocacy Day and also held some free financial literacy workshops in the Rosemont community. We have a lot more planned for the rest of the year, including more engaging presentations for our monthly meetings, mixers, and NexGen events, just to name a few. Stay tuned for more details. Hello Everyone and Happy Spring! Our first 2017 Thirsty Thursday mixer on March 16th at Hop House in Roseville was lots of fun! We were joined on the outside patio by members of the South Placer Estate Planning Council (SPEPC), a diverse group which includes attorneys, real estate professionals, elder care experts and tax professionals.
Look for our next gathering in the summer... These mixers are a great way to meet members of our professional community in a casual environment. This is your chapter, so we encourage you to take advantage of all that it offers: * Networking at our monthly meetings * Continuing education * Informative topics: You can't put a price on knowledge * Additional Member benefits: Please share your stories on how a benefit has helped your business. *Do you know that you can save $300 on your subscription to MoneyGuide Pro financial planning software? That alone would almost pay for your annual membership. *Do you also know that you can get 3 units of FREE CFP Board CE each month through the FPA webinars? That's right, CE delivered to you in the comfort of your office, home or even the beach, as long as you have a Wi-Fi connection.

Do you use the FPANC.org website or follow FPANC on Facebook or Twitter? How do you prefer to keep up to date on all the great events and opportunities with FPANC? If you have any thoughts, it would be great to hear from you at the meetings or via email: [email protected].
Want to meet Jenny's challenge this year to get involved and are interested in a behind the scenes opportunity? We are looking to expand the marketing communications committee and would appreciate your involvement. It could be as simple as taking pictures or posting to Facebook or adding fresh content to the FPANC.org website. Lots of opportunities. I look forward to hearing from you.

Welcome to Spring! I'm sure you appreciate the extra sunlight and the blooming flowers as much as I do, although the allergies that come with the season can also be a challenge. As financial planners, we are given the great privilege of helping our clients achieve their goals and live great lives. We are busy people. We are involved in lots of activities throughout our communities, and we give back in many different ways. We give our money, time, and expertise to others. So in truth, providing pro bono financial planning is really just another avenue for serving others beyond what we already do. I realize that it is tough to squeeze any more into our already busy schedules, especially for something that doesn't always add directly or immediately to the bottom line. But I would encourage you to do what you can. Deliberately make an effort to find just one small area or activity where you can help. And if you are looking for some ideas, here are some you cans start with: * Offer an hour of pro bono financial planning per month or quarter * Identify individuals who could benefit from a pro bono engagement with a CFP * Present at a session of the Rosemont Financial Literacy Project
