Sports Performance Training at The Chatham Club
|
Strength - Movement - Balance
A Methodical Approach to Sports Performance Training
|
Doug Sellmann - SPT Director,
MEd, MSS, NASM, NSCA
|
for athletes 12 years of age and older
We are proud to introduce you to our new department:
Sports Performance Training
at The Chatham Club.
When describing the physical attributes that contribute to athletic success, we focus on physical size, strength, power, endurance, speed, quickness, agility, movement skill, deceleration, balance, reactivity, aerobic power, anaerobic capacity, flexibility, coordination and body awareness.
Each sport requires a different combination of these physical characteristics for success. When designing sports performance programs for young athletes, it is important to match the appropriate skills with each sport's requirements, while also evaluating each athlete's strengths and weaknesses in the above areas. Young athletes need unique exercises that feed into the skill requirements of their sports.
Our sports performance specialists have a full understanding of the science, training philosophy, exercise methodology, active coaching process, error detection, and athletic mechanics required to build more talented athletes. With this specialized knowledge, our sports performance trainers are in a powerful position to affect young athletes in a positive and rewarding way.
Our SPT program is available to members and non-members, 12 years of age and up.
Doug Sellmann - Director SPT, MEd, MSS, NASM, NSCA
Doug received his B.A. in Exercise Science from Kean University. His Master of Education in Sports Management is from East Stroudsburg University. He received a Master of Sports Science from the United States Sports Academy. Doug is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through NSCA, and he is also certified by NASM. Doug has held various positions at The Chatham Club since 1998. He has also worked at several athlete-training centers around New Jersey. Most recently, Doug was the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Hunterdon Central Regional High School in Flemington, NJ.

Restorative Yoga Therapy Workshop
with Barbara
"Rest quietly in the present moment and see clearly the peace that resides within"
Restorative Yoga helps to release the tension from your neck, shoulders, chest and upper back.
The use of props - such as bolsters, blankets and chairs - supports the yoga poses
allowing a deeper sense of relaxation and stress release.
Learning these simple techniques will increase your flexibility, and improve
your postural alignment and breathing.
