We will open the book.  Its pages are blank.  We are going to put words on them ourselves.  The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day.

Greetings!

As the year comes to a close we are happy to say that this has been our best year for commercial real estate in a number of years. We have completed more transactions for more money this year than we have for any of the last four years. More on that at a later date. Now, however it is time to reflect back on the good fortunes of the year and those who have made it possible and it is you. Our success is measured by the people we work for and with. We are grateful for all the people we have had the privilege to come in contact with.

We at Fowler commercial, LLC wish you a joyous holiday and a prosperous 2013!

Real-Estate Firms Get a Handle on Twitter

Peter J. Smith for The Wall Street Journal

The commercial real-estate industry is notorious for being slow to embrace new technology. Social networking is no exception.

But that is finally beginning to change. Some top firms are beefing up their activity on sites like Twitter and LinkedIn, and some brokers say they are doing deals thanks to leads generated by the sites.

10 ways to avoid holiday hacking

The bad guys are out in force this time of year. Know the risks -- and how to protect yourself against online fraud and ID theft.

It's supposed to be the season of peace and goodwill, but scammers are everywhere. Identity thieves, computer hackers and fraudsters tend to increase their efforts over the holidays because more consumers are online purchasing gifts and looking for deals, says Dave Aitel, the CEO of Immunity, a software company that creates penetration-testing products (i.e., hacking tools). Scammers also take advantage of people's generosity during the season of giving.
