Free lesson plans are posted online and delivered via electronic newsletter.  Each eLesson includes historical content, connections to real life, classroom activities, downloadable PDFs, answer keys, discussion questions, and/or suggestions for further reading.

Two eLessons will be sent each month and will cover a variety of topic areas to engage today's students. The most recent lesson posted is Supreme Court Round-Up 2015-2016 - In this eLesson, students explore the major recent U.S. Supreme Court cases that have been decided or await ruling.
Make learning a four-season endeavor.

School is out in the summer, but that should not mean that children should take three months off from learning. Summer is a good time for reviewing, for learning things that may not have been taught in school (perhaps some of those chapters that were skipped in history class), for going to the library and browsing (always a good idea) and for trying to develop new intellectual skills, such as how to play games of strategy like chess, checkers or backgammon, or how to follow recipes carefully.  Click here for nine more tips from MetroParent.com.

Whether it's training for the newspaper staff to raise money for your program or help training  local teachers methods on how to use your newspapers in the classroom across all subjects and grades k-12. Contact Mary Miller for FREE training via email at mmiller@nynpa.com.

Another resource is available from the American Press Institute (formerly NAA Foundation). Click here for a free downloadable guide called Newspaper In Education Workshop Workbook, a 100-page guide to walk you through everything from getting the classroom order to ice breakers to conducting your first workshop with teaching professionals!
