AP, New York Times and CNN sue to obtain Orlando shooting records

From Poynter.org -
A coalition of 25 news organizations, including the Orlando Sentinel, The New York Times, CNN and The Associated Press, are jointly suing the City of Orlando over recorded telephone calls and radio transmissions that could shed new light on this month's mass shooting at an Orlando nightclub.

The news outlets are seeking access to more than 600 phone calls made to Orlando first responders and nearly 30 minutes of conversation between shooter Omar Mateen and police negotiators:
" Lawyers for the media outlets argue the records should be released because there is "a strong public interest in fully evaluating how first responders and police reacted during the most critical phases of this incredible tragedy," the lawsuit states.
In response, the city has filed a lawsuit of its own asking a judge to determine if the record must be made public, according to the Orlando Sentinel. More
Wall Street Journal Europe To Produce Special Afternoon Print Supplement After 'Brexit' Referendum

No Matter What Graphic
From WSJ.com
- The Wall Street Journal Europe will be producing an extra four-page news supplement for distribution this afternoon to follow the result of the referendum.

The supplement - a first for The Wall Street Journal Europe - will go to press at 13:00 BST and be distributed by hand in key London locations from 16:00 BST on Friday 24th June.

The paper will carry core coverage and analysis from the Journal's teams in London and around the Europe. WSJ.com will also present a live blog covering election updates through the night and extensive online coverage the following day.

To support the extra edition, a tactical outdoor campaign, developed by The&Partnership, is running in and around central London over the 23rd and 24th of June - including Euston and Liverpool Street stations. The billboards will simply read 'No Matter What', with the tagline 'The Wall Street Journal, Read Ambitiously.'
Facebook Signs Deals With Media Companies, Celebrities for Facebook Live

Gordon Ramsey signs on to FB Live
From WSJ.com -Facebook Inc. has inked contracts with nearly 140 media companies and celebrities to create videos for its nascent live-streaming service, as the social network positions itself to cash in on a lucrative advertising market it has yet to tap-and keep its 1.65 billion monthly users engaged.

The company has agreed to make payments to video creators totaling more than $50 million, according to a document reviewed by The Wall Street Journal. Its partners include established media outfits like CNN and the New York Times; digital publishers like Vox Media, Tastemade, Mashable and the Huffington Post; and celebrities including Kevin Hart, Gordon Ramsay, Deepak Chopra and NFL quarterback Russell Wilson.

The arrangements are a way to encourage publishers to produce a steady stream of high-quality videos until Facebook figures out a more concrete plan to compensate creators, such as through sharing of ad revenue. More
