We've revamped the digital experience to make it easier for you to connect with what you're looking for, whether that's up-to-the-minute news about what's happening in the Finger Lakes or information about the products and services our advertisers have to offer.
When the new design goes live Wednesday morning, the first thing you might notice is a cleaner appearance all the way around. We have streamlined the navigation and content on our home page, so you can quickly find what you need. We know you love photos, so you'll be greeted with striking images that connect you to relevant information and updates.
All the content you rely on is still there, and now it's even easier to find breaking news updates, along with feature stories, entertainment options, a wide variety of voices in the opinion section and of course, local sports coverage. More

Daily Gazette planning redesigned website
|
The Daily Gazette announced Wednesday that it will be redesigning its website to provide both improved content and an easier, more enjoyable experience for readers. The independently owned media company has contracted with Overit, a digital marketing agency based in Albany, to undertake the major project.
The overhaul - which will not just redesign dailygazette.com but fundamentally rethink the model newspapers typically use to present digital content - is now in the early stages of planning and research and is expected to take much of the rest of this year.
Gazette Publisher John DeAugustine said the redesign will not be visible to readers as it takes shape - dailygazette.com will remain accessible in its current format. The switchover will not happen until the redesign is tested and ready, but when it happens it will be seamless and instantaneous. More |

'Spotlight' producer on investigative journalism: 'It shows the power to change the world.'
From Poynter.org
|
Before working as a producer on "Spotlight," Blye Faust appreciated the work of investigative journalists and the need for investigative reporting.
"But I don't think I really fully comprehended the necessity and its reach and depth and power until 'Spotlight,'" she said.
The film, which tells the story of Boston Globe journalists discovering a child molestation cover-up in the Catholic church, recently won the Screen Actors Guild award for outstanding cast in a motion picture. It's also nominated for several Academy Awards, most notably in the best picture category.
"It hit us that if they had not done what they had done, would we be sitting here still in the dark? And if not, how long would it have taken people to put the pieces together in the way that they did?" Faust said in a phone interview with Poynter. "That, to us, was an incredibly powerful thought. It immediately drove home to us the importance of the work that these guys do."
Last week, Faust joined the board of directors of The Center for Investigative Reporting. Before making "Spotlight," Faust and the co-founder of her production company, Nicole Rocklin, knew changes had hit journalism.
"But I don't think we fully comprehended the depth of the adverse effects, in particular with these investigative teams," Faust said. "I took it for granted that they had these investigative units and they did deep investigative reporting and they had the resources to do it." More
