From Fr John:
Where's Jesus? Come to the Undercroft
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As we heard on Easter morning, Jesus "is not here - he is risen!" (Luke 24:5). And at least for the next couple of months, he's gone to the Undercroft (and the Jewell Room).
Starting this week, we're moving worship to the Undercroft on Sunday mornings, and to the Jewell Room on Fridays and Sunday evenings, so we can begin our renovation of the nave. We'll be replacing the tile floor, repairing pews and painting the interior before moving back to the nave in time for the June wedding season. The 8 a.m. service will remain basically the same (kneeling pads will be available for those who want them). The 10:15 a.m. service will be a little more casual than usual, and the sermon will be more conversational. At both services, we'll receive Communion differently, since we won't have an altar rail. We'll have four standing Communion stations, one for each section of seating. And after worship, we'll have coffee hour in the Undercroft rather than coming up to the Jewell Room. These changes will make our worship experience a little different, but I think you'll find it brings us closer together as a faith community - literally and figuratively. And who knows? You may find the resurrected Jesus showing up in ways you wouldn't expect!
