and Saturday

Farmers Market
The Farmers Market is open every Wednesday and Saturday from 7 a.m. until 12 p.m.; some vendors may stay until 1 p.m. The Market is located at the end of Ashman Street in Downtown Midland.

While not all vendors attend every market, you'll now find beans, honeyrocks, garlic, sweet corn, peppers, beets, cherries, strawberries, carrots, bok choi, radishes, honey, maple syrup, hand-press oils, pasta, baked goods, fresh Michigan fish, local meat, eggs, cut flowers, plants, hanging baskets and more!

New this year, we even have a food court area where you can enjoy hot food. Some of those vendors may stay until 1 p.m. To keep up on Market updates, please follow the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/midlandfarmersmarket

The Secret Employee

Other duties as assigned. I'm sure many of you have heard of this line item on a job description throughout your professional career...whether it's used for good or evil. As a Chamber President, I've been able to do a lot of cool stuff, but one thing I never thought I'd say is that I can count Farmers Market Master among my 'other duties as assigned.'

Lindsay Rotarius
This past Saturday, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to fill in for our Farmers Market Master, Lindsay Rotarius, for a whole Market day. This got me thinking. Many of you have probably not met Lindsay, our "secret employee." So I would like to fix that here.

Lindsay is approaching the completion of her second year with us as Farmers Market Master. In the last two years, the Market has experienced record growth and Lindsay manages it all with ease. She has her Masters degree in Business Administration from Northwood and grew up in the Bay City area. She was focusing on her family for awhile, which is why she happened to be looking for a part-time job. Lucky us!

After working down there for one day, I really understood first-hand the delicate balancing act that takes place every Market. Vendor placement, parking, no parking, lost keys, bucket lunch, providing power, resisting ten different kinds of cookies, managing the Market Facebook and about 50 more things that I know I've missed. Lindsay has done an outstanding job, not only with all of the vendors, but making sure the Market runs smoothly and both vendor and customer needs are met. Next time you're at the Market and see Lindsay, say hello to our 'secret' employee.

Panel Discussion 10:00-11:30 a.m.
Luncheon 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Great Hall Banquet and Convention Center
5121 Bay City Rd., Midland

Join us for our economic outlook coupled with our quarterly membership luncheon, focused on Michigan's craft beer industry and how it has impacted the state economy. From expanding breweries, new breweries popping up and creating jobs, to hop farms, tourism and more, Michigan's craft beer industry has more than a six million dollar impact on our great state. We have secured a robust panel with local business owners from beer distribution, retail, a tap room and Michigan's Brewers Guild.

At the conclusion of the panel discussion, we'll move right into the Fourth Quarter Membership Luncheon where you'll hear from our keynote speaker, Midland native, Brett VanderKamp, President and Co-Founder of New Holland Brewing. As one of the pioneers of Michigan's craft beer industry, Brett will share his story and outlook of this rapidly growing industry taking Michigan by storm! We'll also recognize our Member of the Quarter and our Customers First honorees.

Register for the entire day OR just morning or afternoon.

Early Bird Registration for BOTH Panel and Lunch: $35
Early Bird Registration for Panel ONLY: $15
