Last week seven people from Special Olympics New Mexico attended a training on creating sustainable funding for our organization.  Special Olympics Nebraska was also there, and as we spent time together, as often happens in the world of Special Olympics, we quickly became friends.  During one of the sessions, Jeff, one of the Nebraska Board members, shared the following  story with us.

Poly Hockey athletes bring intensity and sportsmanship to Farmington
The 2016 State Poly Hockey Championships were a great time for athletes, coaches and volunteers alike. Over 300 athletes from all over New Mexico made the trip to Farmington to compete in SONM's only winter sport. The high intensity games certainly brought out our delegations' competitiveness, but also showed a high level of sportsmanship that we have come to expect from Special Olympics New Mexico sports.

This year's Poly Hockey Championships were bigger than ever, and athletes competed for non-stop two days straight. Twenty-nine teams from eleven delegations participated and all were presented awards by Farmington Police Department.

A special congratulations to Noah Benally of Farmington Municipal Schools who won the Opening Ceremonies slapshot contest for his delegation!

The 2016 Special Olympics New Mexico Something Special Dinner & Auction presented by New Mexico Chevy Dealers is just a few short months away! On June 25th, Special  Olympics supporters will gather at Sandia Resort & Casino for a night of fun, for a good cause. Attendees can expect a silent auction with great items, followed by a delicious dinner and a live auction. Special Olympics athletes will also be in attendance!

Sponsorship opportunities are available, or you can just purchase and table or individual ticket to be a part of the fun! All proceeds directly benefit SONM athletes and programs. To learn more, click HERE.
SONM is Revealing the Champion - and you're invited! 

Join Special Olympics New Mexico athletes, staff and volunteers at one of our Reveal the Champion Mission Tours, where you will learn how SONM is Building Inclusive Communities, Transforming Lives through Sports, and Improving Quality of Life for its Athletes. These educational tours begin promptly at 12 pm and last exactly one hour. You also get a free lunch! See below for upcoming dates.

Rebel Rebel! It's donut day!         

Rebel Donut will be selling special Anti R-Word donuts at both locations every Wednesday throughout March. Look at how cool these donuts are! Not only are these donuts Spreading the Word to End the Word, Rebel is also donating fifty cents per donut back to SONM. 

Stop by Rebel Donut every Wednesday this month to help us Spread the Word to End the Word, support SONM, and eat a darn good donut from an awesome community partner!
