Thoughts From Randy
My Team

We may not be the perfect ten, but we are ten people who come to work every day to do everything we can to give New Mexicans challenged with intellectual disabilities the chance to play sports and experience a fuller, funner :) and more meaningful life.  We are not only committed to changing the lives of our athletes - we are grateful for who they are, because they have changed us.  It is my pleasure to share with you how.  As you look at this staff photo from left to right -

It's Last Chance Wednesday - #GivingTuesday Match Extended

Yesterday was #GivingTuesday and we have been so inspired by the generosity of people from all across New Mexico who stood by our athletes.

If you did not get a chance to participate in #GivingTuesday, there is still time to make a difference. With the support of our partner FINISH LINE, any donations made to Special Olympics New Mexico today will be matched and then matched again. Your gift will be tripled - up to the $200,000 campaign limit.

A donation of $35 helps to provide training and competition for a season for a Special Olympics athlete in our state. It may not be #GivingTuesday anymore, but your donation will have the same powerful impact.

Law Enforcement Torch Run News!

Make your LETR Video "Toast" today!

Continuing from today through Thursday, December 31st, help us celebrate our entire law enforcement community in New Mexico with the first-ever New Mexico Law Enforcement Torch Run "Toast" social fundraising campaign, where you and other Torch Run supporters are encouraged to make a video toast of at least one individual in your law enforcement community and share it on your social media sites!

Once you toast your chosen law enforcement officer(s), challenge them to continue on the Toast social campaign! Each video toast is your commitment to donate $20 to your preferred LETR agency's online fundraising page (a list of NMLETR agencies is located at LETROnline.org). All donations benefit Special Olympics New Mexico athletes and sports program!

For more information visit our NMLETR Toast campaign website at LETROnline.org, or email torchrun@sonm.org.

LETR allocates a total of $68,000 to Special Olympics New Mexico programs

Special Olympics New Mexico programs will receive a heftier sum of financial support thanks to a breakout year of over $136,000 raised by law enforcement agencies within the New Mexico Law Enforcement Torch Run.

This year, LETR agencies will allocate a total of over $68,000 - an increase of $18,000 from 2014 - to SONM programs statewide. Fifty percent of total funds raised by LETR agencies are given to their respective local Special Olympics program, while the other half helps fund Special Olympics State Competition opportunities for athletes. The local Special Olympics program funds are allocated based on athlete participation numbers as well as other criteria established by the SONM Sports and Competition program. Allocated funds help cover team training and competition costs.

For more information about the Law Enforcement Torch Run program or to see what fundraising activities our LETR agencies are doing in your community, visit "Torch Run" online at www.SONM.org.

 Calling all Athlete Artists!
Art by Joyce Thornhill

Every year SONM makes plaques decorated with a piece of art made by one of our athletes to recognize our community partners. If you are an athlete and would like one of your pieces of art to be featured on SONM's 2016 sponsor recognition plaques, please let us know! These plaques are a great way to show our community partners that SONM athletes are talented both on and off the playing field.

Please submit your artwork by January 8th to Erin Gallegos at eringallegos@sonm.org or call 505-856-0342 for more information!
