Thoughts From Randy
Ten

I would bet many of us have already started giving thought to Thanksgiving Day.  Travel plans, menus, who will and won't be at the table - lots of thoughts swirling around in people's minds about the day that was created specifically to give thanks for the blessing of the harvest.

I love Thanksgiving - even the ones that I have spent by myself.  I love the smells, the tastes, and I especially love what it means.

Local SUBWAY restaurants raise $25,000 for Special Olympics New Mexico

From April 15 to August 31, over 150 SUBWAY® restaurants located throughout New Mexico joined forces with Special Olympics New Mexico (SONM) to give back to individuals with intellectual disabilities in our state. The SUBWAY® "You Share. We Share." Campaign donated a percentage of weekend sales to Special Olympics New Mexico and raised $25,000 over the four and a half month period.

From Alamogordo to Tularosa, SUBWAY® stores statewide participated eagerly in an effort to support Special Olympics New Mexico's mission. As locally owned and operated franchises, SUBWAY® was excited to be able to further its commitment to the local community with this incredibly successful fundraiser.

"I am truly elated to see how the community came together to support Special Olympics New Mexico throughout the duration of the 'You Share. We Share.' Campaign," stated SONM Executive Director Randy Mascorella. "I want to thank SUBWAY® for giving us the opportunity to be the beneficiary of this promotion and I want to thank SONM athletes, families and supporters for eating at SUBWAY® all summer."
Spread some holiday cheer at Posole Ole!

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, now is the best time to get in the holiday spirit! The 2015 Posole Ole Fun Walk is the perfect opportunity to kick off the holiday season for a good cause. The walk will take place on December 5th at 8 am at the Anderson-Abruzzo International Balloon Museum.

Hundreds of walkers will come together to show their support for New Mexico's Special Olympics athletes. Fund-raisers will have the opportunity to spend time with SONM athletes as we walk around the Balloon Museum. There will also be plenty of festive  food, a raffle with great prizes, and appearances by Santa and Mrs. Claus.  All dollars raised help Special Olympics New Mexico to Build Inclusive Communities, Transform Lives through Sport, and Improve the Quality of life for over 3,100 Special Olympics New Mexico athletes.

Thank you 2015 North Regional Bowling Tournament Sponsors!

Special Olympics New Mexico's North Regional Bowling Tournament brought 700 athletes from the northern areas of the state to Santa Ana Starlight Lanes last weekend, November 14th-15th. This tournament gave SONM athletes the opportunity to showcase their unique talents as they competed against athletes from other communities at one of New Mexico's premier bowling venues.

We would like to extend a special thanks to our community partners. You allowed us to a provide quality competition experience to hundreds of athletes from New Mexico.

Law Enforcement Torch Run News!

First-annual LETR Online fundraising Campaign toasts law enforcement

From Sunday, Nov. 15th through Thursday, Dec. 31st, help us celebrate our entire law enforcement community in New Mexico with New Mexico Law Enforcement Torch Run's first-ever NMLETR "Toast" social fundraising campaign, where you and other Torch Run supporters are encouraged to make a video toast of at least one individual in your law enforcement community and share it on your social media sites!

Once you toast your chosen law enforcement officer(s), challenge them to continue on the Toast social campaign! Each video toast is your commitment to donate $20 to your preferred LETR agency's online fundraising page (a list of NMLETR agencies is located at LETROnline.org). All donations benefit Special Olympics New Mexico athletes and sports program!

For more information visit our NMLETR Toast campaign website at LETROnline.org, or emailtorchrun@sonm.org.
