Thoughts from Randy
Heart

For those of you who have watched or participated in an organized athletic competition of any kind at any level, you most likely have thoughts and stories to share about the umpires, referees, officials, or judges -  the people who were there to make sure the rules of the sport were adhered to.  Regardless of how sports officials have been viewed by players, coaches, and spectators throughout the years, they are game changers. And I have seen that more than ever before at our last few Special Olympics competitions.

Did you rappel Over the Edge? Find your photo below!

We had a great time at Over the Edge for Special Olympics this year! Taking place on September 17-18, over 80 fundraisers and SONM athletes rappelled Over the Edge for the benefit of Special Olympics New Mexico. We have new photos coming in daily, but if you rappelled on with the 17th or the 18th, click HERE to view photos we've already received, some taken by our staff photographer and some from photographer Mark Hollingsworth. Continue checking back for photos, we will update the album as we receive them!

Thank you to all of our fundraisers and sponsors! Without your dedication, this event would not be possible.
Register online for Posole Ole!

The online registration for the 2015 Posole Ole Fun Walk is officially open! Thank You State Equestrian Sponsors!

About two weeks ago, forty Special Olympics New Mexico athletes from across the state gathered in Clovis to showcase their unique equestrian talents! For two days, athletes and their equine friends competed in a variety of events including pole bending, barrel racing, and figure 8 stake.

We would like to extend a very special Thank You to the sponsors of this event. It is a wonderful opportunity for SONM athletes to compete in such a unique sport, and your support is greatly appreciated.

Law Enforcement Torch Run News!
LETR's national Red Robin Tip-A-Cop set for Oct. 24th

Come support our partnering law enforcement and Special Olympics communities by choosing to dine with your family at one of the two Red Robin restaurants on Saturday, Oct. 24th in Albuquerque.

From 11 am - 8 pm local law enforcement representatives from Belen Police Department and Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office will trade in their handcuffs for aprons, and spend the day at Red Robin restaurants serving you! One hundred percent of the tips you donate to the officers will benefit Special Olympics New Mexico's athletes and sports program.

For more information contact the LETR state office at 505.865.0342 or email torchrun@sonm.org.

Eight LETR agencies qualify for 2015 International Conference in the Bahamas

On Sept. 30th, representatives from eight qualified New Mexico Law Enforcement Torch Run agencies attended the 2015 LETR International Conference in Nassau, Bahamas.

These agencies include: Rio Rancho Police Dept., Belen Police Dept., Albuquerque Police Dept., Farmington Police Dept., Dona Ana County Sheriff's Dept., Otero County Prison Facility, Otero County Sheriff's Dept., and Las Cruces Police Department.

Each year, the New Mexico Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics selects representatives from qualified law enforcement agencies-local Torch Run agencies that raise a minimum of $8,000 annually for Special Olympics-to join thousands of LETR officers from around the world with a single focus: to inform and educate officers of new and different ways they can impact their local communities through year-round Torch Run activities that raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics.

Congratulations to these LETR agencies, which have shown exceptional dedication and commitment to making a difference in their respective communities and the world through the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.

Last chance to Reveal the Champion!

There are only three more opportunities to attend a Reveal the Champion Mission Tour this year! Don't miss your chance to learn how Special Olympics New Mexico is Building Inclusive Communities, Transforming Lives through Sport, and Improving Quality of Life for our athletes. The tours begin promptly at noon at the SONM office and will last exactly one hour. Whether you are new to our organization or have been involved for many years, you will certainly learn something new by hearing speeches from an SONM athlete, a parent, and staff members.
