EKS Day
On Saturday, September 26th, the world will celebrate Eunice Kennedy Shriver the Founder  of Special Olympics. To think that the EuniceKennedyShriververy thought of Special Olympics was birthed in her backyard in the early 1960's at what was called Camp Shriver, and has now grown into a movement serving over four million people with intellectual disabilities in over 100 countries is beyond amazing.
If you ever had the chance to listen to Mrs. Shriver - you know that much of what she accomplished had a lot to do with the tone of her voice. As you listened to her words, regardless of who you were - you couldn't help but be influenced by her tone. In his book, Fully Alive, her son Timothy reminded me of the power of that.

Over the Edge for Special Olympics is this Friday! We can't wait to see over 60 rappellers go Over the Edge of the New Mexico Bank & Trust Building in downtown ABQ. Special Olympics athletes will be rappeling tomorrow from 1pm - 4 pm during our VIP Day. Members of our League of Edgers will be rappeling from 9 am - 4 pm on Friday! Head on down to the NM Bank & Trust Building on 4th and Gold St. either of those days to check out the action. Thank you to our fundraisers and of course to our sponsors who made this event possible. You are all helping to improve the quality of life of SONM athletes all over the state.

Holiday Classic is BACK!
Good news, fans! We are once again returning to Las Cruces for the Holiday Classic
next month on October 30-31. SONM Bowlers and Basketball players from all over the state will be returning to the southern part of New Mexico for the first time in two years.

Celebrate EKS Day and Play Unified!
Eunice Kennedy Shriver Day (EKS Day) is an annual celebration of the life of Special Olympics founder and champion. It is also a global call for people to live in a more unified society - in sport, in the community, and in the work place. By committing acts of inclusion, acceptance, and unity for and with people with intellectual disabilities, we will continue to build on the legacy of Eunice Kennedy Shriver.
Today our call to action begins with you. On EKS Day - September 26- we invite you to celebrate this extraordinary woman's legacy and help your community move towards a world where boys and girls with and without intellectual disabilities are united in a more inclusive, just, and caring world. Go outside and play a game, have a BBQ, and invite your friends both with and without intellectual disabilities! It's up to you, but do something fun that demonstrates and celebrates inclusion.
Become and agent of acceptance and action throughout the world. Embrace the spirit of Eunice Kennedy Shirver Day, and on that day, Play Unified, Speak Unified, and Live Unified.

Save the Date for the Posole Ole Fun Walk!
 Winter may seem far off, but before we know it, we'll be walking laps around the Anderson-Abruzzo International Balloon Museum with Santa and Mrs. Claus!
This year's Posole Ole Fun Walk will take place on December 5 at the Balloon Museum from 8 am - 11 am. As always, you can expect craft tables, raffle prizes, Orbit and pictures with Santa! This is a great way to raise money for your delegation as well as kicking off the season in style.
