Thoughts from Randy
Changed

Last week I had the privilege of watching the 2015 Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles from the bleachers.  I sat in awe.

The performances were outstanding and heat after heat - race after race - game after game - these athletes showed everyone how in the world of sport, two competitors can be kind TO each other - excited FOR each other - and respectful OF each other.  Think about that.

Congratulations World Games athletes!

On August 3, 2015, four Special Olympics athletes from New Mexico returned from a long week of competition at the Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles where they competed against over 6,500 athletes from 165 countries. The group cumulatively won six medals, and a group of fans and friends greeted them at the airport to congratulate them on their successes.

New Mexico sent two Rhythmic Gymnasts Rebecca Amador, 19, and Jeannie Garriss, 29, to be a part of Special Olympics USA. Amador won two Gold Medals and one Bronze, while Garriss won one Bronze Medal, one Silver Medal and three Gold Medals, one of which was for the All-Around event.

New Mexico was also represented by Special Olympics Golfer Matthew Scates, 40, and his teammate without a disability Todd Phillips. The team won a Bronze Medal in team play.
