Thoughts From Randy
Important Words

Last weekend I drove to southern New Mexico to watch our athletes compete in track and field and bocce.  My morning began with Joseph, a Carlsbad athlete, who told me if I drank three cups of coffee every morning I was eventually going to die.  I love our athletes.

I spent a good portion of the day not only watching our athletes compete, but watching those who were watching our athletes compete.  It reminded me of something I read years ago that stayed with me.  Intercollegiate athletes across our carlsbad athletescountry were asked what their parents said that made them feel great and added to their joy after they were done competing.  The overwhelming response was hearing "I love to watch you play."

Inclusive communities shine bright at Shining Stars Preschool

On April 17, 69 students from Shining Stars Preschool and 19 high school students from Bosque School partnered for a Young Athletes Play Day.

Shining Stars Preschool is an inclusive preschool that consists of several programs for children with developmental disabilities and their typically developing peers. During the play day, seven preschool classes, with the aid of Bosque School students, practiced beginning sports skills activities that enhanced gross motor skills development.

"To be able to see these kids succeed in something that they put their mind to has been very fulfilling," stated Bosque School student DJ Wagner. "This has been an eye-opening experience for the students in my class."
