Thoughts From Randy
And the Winner Is

Last week Special Olympics New Mexico announced the recipients of our 2014 Distinguished Service Awards.  We presented awards to three of the winners at the Opening Ceremonies of our State Poly Hockey Championships.  Having recently watched the Oscars, here are my thoughts about receiving an award in front of an audience - it's not easy, especially if you are handed a microphone.

I know what I heard from Hollywood's best, and I know what I heard from a few of Special Olympics New Mexico's best, and no offense to anyone, but  I also know who I liked hearing from the best and why.

Mayor Berry, Parks and Rec, and UNM Football program give SONM athletes opportunity to compete

Two weeks ago at the Albuquerque Convention Center, 120 SONM athletes gathered with Mayor Berry, the City of ABQ Park and Recreation Department, and the UNM Football team to celebrate a long standing partnership. Mayor Berry gave a warm personal welcome and the UNM Football team served as volunteers, as SONM athletes competed on one of the nation's finest indoor tracks.

A huge thank you to the City of Albuquerque Parks and Recreation Department, Mayor Berry, and Lobo Football for their continued friendship and commitment to our athletes.

Thank you, Sponsors!

Despite having to brave the winter weather last weekend, the State Poly Hockey Championships went off without a hitch! Athletes from all over the state came together to compete in one of SONM's most high-energy sports. Congratulations to all of the teams who competed!

We would like to thank the State Poly Hockey sponsors who made these Games possible.

Law Enforcement Torch Run News!

Inaugural LETR Germaine Casey Invitational fundraiser for Special Olympics New Mexico this Friday

If you're looking for something to do with the family this weekend, join your fellow Special Olympics and Law Enforcement Torch Run fans in Rio Rancho for an exciting motorcycle training and competition among New Mexico's best law enforcement motor officers.

The Germaine Casey Invitational Police Motorcycle Training and Competition is a Law Enforcement Torch Run fundraising event that's also a first of its kind event in the state.
