Law Enforcement Torch Run News!

LETR Agencies continue to "fuel the flame" at the 2014 SONM State Bowling Tournament

On Nov. 2nd and 3rd, South Central Region's LETR Belen Police Department and North Central Region's LETR Santa Ana Police Department attended the 2014 Special Olympics New Mexico State Bowling tournament in Bernalillo.

Throughout the two days, Belen PD's Lt. Robert Miller and Santa Ana PD's Officer Ana Ortiz both carried the Flame of Torch across each lane in front of hundreds of SONM athletes, friends, and fans.

Lt. Miller and Officer Ortiz also took part in awarding medals to athletes, who proudly and eagerly posed for photos with the two LETR officers.  Carrying the Flame of Hope torch and awarding medals to athletes at SONM Area and State Competitions is one of the main five agency activities offered in our LETR program.

If your LETR Agency's officers and family members are interested in participating in an SONM Area and/or State Competition, contact the LETR State Office at 505.856.0342 or email torchrun@sonm.org.
This holiday season, give the gift of Joy!

This year, honor those on your holiday shopping list by making contributions in their name to Special Olympics New Mexico. We'll tell each of your recipients about your donation with a holiday card featuring artwork by one of our athletes. It's a beautiful way to commemorate your gift, and it shows how talented and accomplished our athletes are off the playing field as well as on.

Even more important, when you donate to Special Olympics in the name of a friend or loved one, you're saying, "This holiday season, you and I are joining hands to change the world for people with intellectual disabilities-and for all of us."

Please make your holiday donations in honor of friends or loved ones today! That way you'll allow time for our meaningful card to arrive before the holidays.

A donation to Special Olympics is a deeply significant way to express how much your loved ones mean to you. And no matter what your gift-giving budget is, your gifts can have a tremendous impact. Just $35 can help support an athlete's participation in Special Olympics for a year!

To make an online donation, click HERE. Or contact Christine Roybal at 505-856-0342 or christine@sonm.org for more donation options!
