Planning is underway for the 2014 Posole Ole Fun Walk and 5K and SONM is looking for clubs and youth groups to participate. If your school or church group needs or wants volunteer hours, look no further than Posole Ole!

Posole Ole offers youth groups and clubs the opportunity to raise funds up, participate in the Fun Walk, collect raffle items, and change lives by supporting our Special Olympics athletes.  It's a great way to earn community service hours and spread some holiday cheer New Mexico style.

The Posole Ole Fun Walk and 5K will take place on December 6th at the Anderson-Abruzzo International Balloon Museum. If you are interested in getting your group involved, contact Jayne Thurman at 505-856-0342 or at jayne@sonm.org.

SONM athlete Tim Harris and his family opened Timīs Place in 2010 as one of the first and only restaurants to be owned by a man with Down syndrome. Tim is an inspiring entrepreneur who believes in creating an accepting, loving, and energetic atmosphere wherever he goes. Now, because of Tim's hard work, love for his community, and entrepreneurial attitude, Tim's Place is a very popular restaurant in Albuquerque, serving breakfast, lunch and hugs, and Tim's story has been shared worldwide as an inspiration to anyone who has ever had a dream. 

In order to truly share his ideals, Tim Harris is looking to help other people with intellectual disabilities start their own business. In August 2014, Tim Harris started Tim's Big Heart Foundation (TBHF), a newly formed New Mexico non-profit corporation set out to encourage and help individuals with intellectual disabilities to launch their own entrepreneurial venture. As a kick start to his foundation, Tim is looking for one lucky person to be the first participant in his Business Start-up program. If you are a New Mexico resident with an intellectual disability, Tim wants you to submit a video explaining what kind of business you dream of owning and operating so he can help you start it up.   If you are interested in participating, click HERE for details.
