Over the Edge for Special Olympics New Mexico took place last Friday and over 70 brave participants rappelled down the 16-story New Mexico Bank and Trust Building for the benefit of SONM athletes!

Special Olympics El Tour is America's largest perimeter bicycling for cyclists of all ages and abilities and is held annually on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, attracting more than 9,000 cyclists from throughout the United States and worldwide. Cyclists may ride the 104-mile perimeter course around Tucson or elect to ride the 75, 55 or 40 mile El Tour. There is also a Fun Ride of 12, 5 or 1/4 miles. 

Since 1983 Special Olympics El Tour has raised over $40 million for various nonprofit organizations. The primary beneficiary, and sponsor, of the 2014 El Tour is Special Olympics.

Riding in Special Olympics El Tour can be a life changing experience and it can also be life changing for those that El Tour supports; specifically children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics, the primary beneficiary of this years' El Tour strives to create a better world by fostering the acceptance and inclusion of all people. Through the power of Special Olympic sports, people with intellectual disabilities discover new strengths and abilities, skills and success.
