Thoughts From Randy
Fed?

I can't tell you how many have shared with me that they are just struggling to get into the Christmas spirit.  Less money, working longer and harder, running like mad to get things done - the stress and preparation around the Holiday is robbing many of us of the joy that was purposed for this season.

Thank you 2013 Posole Ole Fun Walk and 5K Sponsors!

Blue Cross Blue Shield gives $10,000 to Project Unify!

On Wednesday, December 11, Special Olympics New Mexico was awarded a $10,000 grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM) for the Project Unify program.

SONM's Project Unify program is amazing as it implements a fundamental sports system, which creates and promotes inclusive opportunities for children in school to be active, encourages physical activity and healthy lifestyles, and creates disability awareness and leadership opportunities at an early age.

The grant was awarded through BCBSNM's Healthy Kids Healthy Families initiative. The goal is to impact the lives of children in New Mexico through nutrition education, physical activity, disease prevention and management, and supporting safe environments. Project Unify exemplifies many of the Healthy Kids, Healthy Families ideals by striving to improve the health and wellness of children and adults with intellectual disabilities, as well as raising awareness.

"The Healthy Kids, Healthy Families granting program supports BCBSNM's commitment to the communities we serve," said Consuelo Bolagh-Cowde, Outreach Coordinator for BCBSNM. "By partnering with Special Olympics New Mexico for Project Unify, we believe that we can help young New Mexicans make their schools and their communities a better place for everyone."

Help SONM transform lives!

Special Olympics transforms lives through the power of sports. Every day athletes are defying low expectations and building confidence and skills to succeed in sports, and more importantly in life. For every Special Olympics champion in New Mexico there are still so many more people with intellectual disabilities who have not yet been reached. Click HERE to donate today and help us get one more person onto the playing field...touched by the joy of sport. One more life changed forever.
