| Thoughts From Randy
Face Lift
There has been some very sad stories in the news this past week around the cruelty towards people with intellectual disabilities. Neglect - verbal abuse - same OLD story - just different names and different faces.
I started thinking about those faces - that when in public are usually downward to avoid the stares. But, when at Special Olympics - take on a whole different look.
These faces can lift our spirits and put us all in a frame of mind that allows for the freedom to be ourselves - and be just fine with that.
Enjoy.

LETR News!!! New!
De La Vega's Tip-A-Cop builds community in Las Cruces
On Thursday, October 18th New Mexico Law Enforcement Torch Run (NMLETR) officers in the SW Region hosted a Tip-A-Cop fund raiser at De La Vega's Pecan Grill in Las Cruces.
The event raised $1,317 in just a few available hours-a huge feat that has epitomized the passion law enforcement officers have for supporting Special Olympics athletes and their families.
Officers from Dona Ana County Sheriff's Department and the Las Cruces Police Department joined several Special Olympics athletes and family members in serving meals and greeting De La Vega's patrons for one great evening of community building.
Special thanks goes out to De La Vega's management and staff for their hospitality and support of our NMLETR family. Additional thanks to NMLETR officers Michelle Ugalde and Aaron Glymph, as well as officer David Testa and his family. David's daughter Rachel, who helped NMLETR greet customers, competes with the Special Olympics Las Cruces Public Schools program.
Be a fan and stay up-to-date with NMLETR activities across the state on our NMLETR Facebook page.
