On Saturday, October 13th members of the New Mexico Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics partnered with Red Robin restaurants in Albuquerque to host a Tip-A-Cop event to raise funds and awareness for SONM's athletes and sports program statewide.
Officers from the Albuquerque Police Department and Belen Police Department were on site at each location greeting patrons, serving meals, and encouraging donations that ranged from $10 to $50. Between the two Red Robin locations, the event raised a total of $3,400.
Special thanks goes out to Red Robin leadership and staff for their generous hospitality and support of Special Olympics and the Law Enforcement Torch Run. Additional thanks to our NMLETR officers that helped raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics: Lt. Robert Miller, Officer Joseph "JJ" Chavez, Officer Jose Natividad, and Officer Luis Lopez of Belen Police Department; as well as Lt. Jeremy McRae, Officer Nick Wheeler, and Sgt. Michelle Campbell of Albuquerque Police Department.
