Join us at IPLC2015 to hear about exciting new advances in physical literacy and how it can be incorporated into everyday life. We'll also highlight 25 innovative poster presentations from professionals across the sectors - such as Chris Fenlon-MacDonald's "Don't Walk in the Hallway" project featured below!

Don't Walk in the Hallways!

Calgary's Panorama Hills School has implemented the Don't Walk in the Hallway project to encourage children to be active, safe and respectful as they transport through the school hallways.

By laying down a mathematically sound pattern of coloured tiles in one of the hallways, Chris Fenlon-MacDonald has discovered a way for children to increase physical activity, develop physical literacy and fundamental movement skills, improve executive functioning and focus in class, build social connections, and think critically about their actions.

The Year of Physical Literacy

It's a big year for sport and physical activity as 2015 marks the Year of Sport in Canada. It's been a big year for physical literacy as well!

Toronto played host to the first RBC Learn to Play Knowledge Exchange in late February, and within three weeks of each other we had the Kamloops Health and Physical Literacy Summit, the Ever Active Schools Physical Literacy Summit in Calgary, and the Physical Literacy: The Gateway to Active Participation conference in Winnipeg.

Many more physical literacy-focused events will be taking place next month and throughout the rest of the year. Visit the Canadian Sport for Life events calendar for more!
