Shir Appeal 2016
Family Shabbat, with Shir Appeal, This Friday, March 4!

Shir Appeal, an award-winning Jewish
a capella ensemble from Tufts University, will be performing again this year at TBC this Friday, March 4th. They will be bringing their voices to the family worship service -- which begins at 6:30 pm -- and doing an additional "set" during the oneg. The group has performed coast to coast, singing in a wide variety of languages and musical styles: Israeli pop and rock, traditional liturgical songs, Jewish world music, and English songs with Jewish themes. And our own Sarah Gruen is a member of this group!  It should be a truly wonderful evening.  Click here for more information!

The family Pizza PreNeg begins at 6:00 pm. Please RSVP ASAP if you're planning to come!

The Pulice-Krasner Family is sponsoring the Family Pizza PreNeg and the Family Oneg, while the Gruen Family is sponsoring the oneg after the service. Many, many thanks to the generosity of our oneg sponsors!  Please let Rabbi Bearman know if your family would like to sponsor an upcoming oneg!
Purim is Coming! Order Your Shalach Manot Now!

Purim is on Friday March 25 at 7:30! The Shabbat service will be followed by a special reading of the Book of Esther, then a festive holiday oneg! In the book of Esther, two of the mitzvot that are associated with Purim are the sending of gifts of food and the giving of tzedakah. In verse 9:22 of the book of Esther it says: "[Mordechai wrote to the Jews] to observe the days as days of feasting and joy and giving presents of food to one another and gifts to the poor."

At TBC, we combine these two mitzvot into our Shalach Manot fundraiser, a fun way to support TBC by sending gifts to friends, as well as TBC clergy, staff, teachers and tutors. Please join us in celebrating Purim through this annual tradition!

To order your Shalach Manot, click HERE.  In the form, you will have the opportunity to reciprocate, which means that we will send a bag on your behalf to anyone that sends to you.

Help Needed! Syrian Refugee Family Arriving in Wilton March 10

The Wilton Interfaith Action Committee (Wi-ACT) voted last week to accept a Syrian refugee family consisting of a 33-year-old widow and her five children aged 12, 11, 8, 5 and 2. The family has been fully vetted through extensive U.S. government security clearance procedures. While the challenge of a family this large is great, the need is, of course, also great and Wi-ACT is doing and has already done extensive planning in preparation for our family's arrival. The family is scheduled to arrive at JFK on March 10th, and Wi-ACT plans to pick them up there and bring them to the transitional housing that the School Sisters of Notre Dame are so generously providing on their campus on Belden Hill Road. The family is Sunni Muslim and speaks Arabic. Wi-ACT will keep us posted on developments.
  • Arabic speakers needed!  Does anyone at TBC speak Arabic? If so, please email Don Weber at: mdweb27@me.com

  • Supplies and children's items needed:  please go to the Google doc for contributing and directly enter your name for items you can supply by Monday, March 7.

TBC Sisterhood and Rabbi Bearman Invite You to "Embrace Your Inner Queen!"

What do we really know about the queens of the Purim story? On Sunday, March 13th, at 4:00 pm we'll explore the lives and personalities of Vashti and Esther. Were they as different as our tradition teaches? Which one is the best role model? Which one was the most fun? Grab your tiara and join us for savories, sweets and Chai Tea as we search for the answers to these questions and more!

RSVP to sisterhood@templebnaichaim.org by March 9th. Free to Sisterhood members and new TBC women members.  $10.00 for non-Sisterhood members.
