Shalom Tampa Summer Schedule
We love our Shalom Tampa readers! Thanks for reading Shalom Tampa and for supporting the events and activities of the Tampa JCC & Federation and the Tampa Jewish community. We look forward to bringing you more news and information in the coming year.
Summer is here, which means everyone is taking a break, which means fewer Jewish community events, which means we have a little less news to share! During the months of June, July and August, Shalom Tampa will be published every other week. If you have timely news to share during the summer months, please be sure to let us know with enough advance notice. General information and editorial guidelines for Shalom Tampa can be found in the last section of this e-Newsletter.

Introducing "Mensch of the Week" Help us recognize extraordinary members of our community. Nominate a "Mensch of the Week." Beginning Friday, August 2nd, we'll announce a new Mensch every Friday in our weekly e-Newsletter, "Shalom Tampa." You can nominate as many individuals as you like.
Nominate a mensch today! And thanks to several kind readers who took the time to remind us that the plural of "mensch" is "menchin" or "menchen."

Oklahoma City Tornado Relief Fund
Help us to help those in crisis
The Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) is working with the Jewish Federation of Greater Oklahoma City to gather aid for the victims of the devastating tornado that tore through the Oklahoma City area on Monday night, killing and injuring many people and leaving a wide path of destruction. One hundred percent of funds donated will go to the Jewish Federation of Greater Oklahoma City and its relief efforts on the ground. You can donate here to the JFNA national fund, and JFNA will send all donations to the local fund. The local Federation is coordinating initiatives on the ground with longtime partners, including a local food bank, Habitat for Humanity, and the Red Cross.

Ashkenazi and Sephardi Chefs Square Off at London Gefiltefest
On May 19, the Jewish Cultural Centre in London hosted Gefiltefest 2013. Gefiltefest is an annual gathering of Jews interested in food (are there any who aren't?).
One of the highlights was a cook-off matching Ashkenazi and Sephardi master chefs.
