Linda Iby from the Malone Store is retiring.
From left: Dave Bruso, Harley Titus, Mickey Manson, Linda Iby, Chad Hernandez, Sharon Manson, Cody Langdon, Tammy Tuper, Bonnie Law, Derrick Manson, Robert Rowe, Linda White, Jeff Gonyea.
After 9 years at our Malone Store, Linda Iby is retiring. Linda came to Ward Lumber when Dwyer's closed, and she brought so much valuable industry experience with her.
Dave Bruso, Malone Store Manager, said "Linda has always been well-liked by customers and her fellow team members. She is very loyal, dedicated, reliable, and customer driven. Linda has the highest customer count of any team member at the Malone Store. That means she has served the most customers in Malone. She did that in typical Linda form with friendly, up-beat and professional treatment of everyone she encountered. Customers know that Linda goes above and beyond, giving them the best possible customer service experience."
While we congratulate and thank Linda for her years of service at Ward Lumber, it's a bittersweet goodbye, as she will be sorely missed! You may, from time to time, still see Linda, as she has agreed to come in on a on-call basis when we need her--also in typical Linda form.
We wish Linda Iby the best, as she enters this new and exciting stage of life in retirement! Good luck, Linda!!!

Jay Ward recently visited Emery-Waterhouse in Portland, ME. Emery is one of the largest hardware distributors in the country and has been a Ward Lumber vendor partner for over 25 years.
While at Emery Jay had the opportunity to see Chuck Feeley, Emery's Pneumatic Tool Repair Specialist. Ward Lumber offers an air tool repair program via Emery that boasts a one week turn around on most tools and Chuck its the guy that makes it happen. Thanks Chuck!
Jay also caught up with long time friend Charlie Hildreth while at Emery's Lawn and Garden Preseason Buying Show while in Portland. Charlie has been at Emery for over 60 years and now serves as Chairman of the Board. Emery is Ward Lumber's main hardware supplier that delivers a truckload of hardware, plumbing, electrical, paint, tools and more every week and is a big part of the more than 113,000 hardware items we have access to in a week or less.

Are your animals ready for winter?
Forage Testing is a free service to Ward Lumber feed customers. Having your hay tested can help you determine if your animals are getting the nutrition to help them sustain the harsh winter months. The testing is conducted through Poulin Grain and Green Mountain Lab. The test results will show what the hay is providing for nutrition and a grain/feed diet can be determined to balance the hay for a complete diet. Contact Scott Christian, Ward Lumber's Animal Nutrition Specialist, to schedule your Forage Testing at (518) 946-2216 or email schristian@wardlumber.com.

A message of thanks & hope from Sarah Tromblee.
Thank you so much for the prayers, support, and positive energy. At our trip to GA recently, we received some positive news. The doctor said my scans are showing the tumors are gone. However, I still have cancer cells in the same areas. He said I am very lucky but we would say blessed. I still need to continue with treatment and trips to GA. Our hope is to continue to keep it at bay and that one day I will have a cure. Please keep sending prayers and positive energy my way.
Love to all! Sarah

How critical are turnovers when it comes to success in the NFL? Extremely - and even more so when it comes to betting the games. Over the 20 years preceding 2013, teams that had just one less turnover than their opponents covered the spread more than 67% of the time. The odds grew to more than 80% with two fewer turnovers, almost 89% for a differential of three, almost 93% for four and almost 96% for five or more.
The Red Sox made their own charge into the 2013 playoffs sporting facial hair that made them look like a band 19th Century dandies. Such was not always the case. In 1968, major league officials actually voted to ban facial hair. The ban lasted only two seasons, and by the early 1970s the rollicking Oakland A's displayed muttonchops and mustaches galore. But for some six decades prior, there was virtually no facial hair in the majors, in part because Gillette became a major sponsor early in the 20th Century. Still is.
