6th Annual Cut-A-Thon to 'Cut Out' Pediatric Cancer

When: Sunday, October 14th from 11 AM - 3 PM

What: Haircuts will be $25 by donation. We will also have a bake-sale, a facepainter for the kids, and Jennifer will be on-hand with her Silpada Designs jewelry collection, donating 100% of all jewelry proceeds sold to the event.

This year, our cut-a-thon is in honor of Ava Buhr and Taylor Love. Read more about Ava and Taylor in our Community section.

100% of all funds collected will go The Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation and the Band of Parents. To learn more about pediatric cancer, please visit thetruth365.org. Each day, 36 children will be diagnosed with cancer. Funding for pediatric cancer research from the government is limited. Time is running out for many of these children -- money stands between them and a cure.

Pink Night of Hope

When: Friday, October 19th from 6-8 PM.

What: A pink night of fun with girlfriends! Stop by before you head out for the night, or stop in on your way home from work.

We will have beverages and yummy treats, raffles for salon services and jewelry, and of course, $10 pink hair extensions to raise money and awareness for women fighting breast cancer. We will have a Silpada jewelry sale with proceeds benefiting the Living Beyond Breast Cancer organization. Be sure to bring your girlfriends. You will receive an additional two raffle tickets for every one friend you bring! Please RSVP for this event so that we know how much food and beverage to have on hand.

Beautifying Elixirs from Eufora

We just love, love, love the new beautifying elixirs from Eufora. We had a kick off event at the salon on the 28th of September and had free conditioning treatments with this amazing new product. The Beautifying Elixirs line ('be' for short), was formulated to repair and restore hair to a natural state.

The 'be' product line does this through Eufora's proprietary combination of natural ingredients that help to repair the hair cuticle, as opposed to just masking damaged hair with shine and gloss.

Please be sure to ask our Eufora mixologists which elixirs will work best for your hair type. Each of our stylists received training directly from Eufora educators on which blends of the elixirs are suited for particular hair types.

6th Annual Cut-a-Thon

For those of you who have known the team at Salon Khouri for a while have probably heard of our little warrior champion, Taylor Love. We learned of Taylor six years ago through a family friend. Taylor had just been diagnosed with neuroblastoma. Having a child the same age as Taylor, learning about this awful disease really hit home. We wanted to do something to help this family and this precious little girl, who at the time was just 18 months old, battling for her life. Taylor has fought neuroblastoma and is currently showing "no evidence of disease", but was diagnosed with chemo-induced leukemia two years ago. She underwent a bone marrow transplant and has been healed, however, she has a long road ahead of her as she will continue to receive scans and tests for the rest of her life to ensure cancer does not return. We think about and pray for the Love family constantly, and are so happy that she is enjoying a mostly normal 7 year old life!

Late last year, we learned that Ava Buhr, the adorable daughter of our good client and friend, Jeannie Buhr, was diagnosed with Pre-B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Ava was just 2 1/2 years old when diagnosed. The doctors immediately started chemotherapy and she is currently in remission, however, she will have to continue chemotherapy until just before her 5th birthday. We also think about and pray for little Ava daily and hope that she will be well enough to visit us during our 6th annual cut-a-thon.

We have learned over the past six years that childhood cancer is more prevalent than you think. Each day, 46 children are diagnosed with some form of pediatric cancer. You can help make a difference in the lives of these children. Federal funding to pediatric cancer is just 4% of the budget for cancer research. These children rely on private donations for potential cures to their disease. Please print and hand out this flyer to everyone you know. If you cannot attend the cut-a-thon, we encourage you to donate to one of the wonderful organizations listed on the flyer, or visit http://www.thetruth365.org/ for more information on pediatric cancer, the statistics, and the dismal state of research funding.

5th Annual Pink Hair for Hope

We so love the Pink Hair for Hope campaign! What better way to show support for our sisters who have been touched by breast cancer than rocking out a pink extension (or two or three), for which all proceeds are donated to the American Cancer Society for their Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign. And, be sure to stop by our Pink Night of Hope this year to party with us for a cure!
Bring a friend and join the cause!
