MUSINGS FROM MIKKI
Happy post Mother's Day! Sadly, it wasn't happy for me as I had to cancel my trip to NY to see Jason, and canceled three speaking gigs, due to an accident resulting in a herniated disc and mucho pain. What a fabulous month it was until then...
(All healing hugs sent virtually will be gratefully accepted.)
Here's a link to a singing showcase that Jason was part of.

Had my Vistage meeting in the gorgeous boardroom of the Illinois College of Optometry, hosted by Laura Rounce and Len Messner.

Left the next day for Los Angeles for the birthday party of my BFF Kathy Sirico. It started Friday night at her favorite Polo Lounge at The Beverly Hills Hotel and the next night the party was held at the luxurious Bel-Air Hotel .

It was a whirlwind weekend and I got to see so many friends I hadn't seen in a while.

I had brunch with Lisa Erspamer, former Executive Producer of the Oprah show,
Lisa Erspamer
and dinner with Reverend Mark Anthony Lord who relocated back to Los Angeles.

I always wanted to go to Agape Spiritual Center which I finally did with BFF Kat Coleman who also moved out west.
Kat Coleman

Thanks to Facebook, one of my buddies from fitness days saw I was in town and drove over to spend the day at the pool: Linda Shelton, famous for her writings in Shape Magazine and fitness tours

On to Sacramento for three days of speaking, first at Village Nurseries, one of my more unusual speaking locations and not conducive to my stilettos.

Then on to M Corp to deliver my DISC assessment program, You've Got Personnel-ity with CEO Alex Castro.
Alex

On to Vegas for another fun weekend with BFF Sherry Davis who now lives in Seattle. We saw Showstoppers, dined, danced and dallied deliciously.

No rest for the weary. Back home for Speakers School and my BFF from CA, Tamilee Webb aka Buns of Steel spending the weekend with me. Finished up with a program for my local National Speakers Assn. IL chapter, pictured with incoming President Conor Cuneen.

OK back to ice, exercise and pain pills.  Whew!

I LOVE THIS BOOK!

Love you Forever

by Robert Munsch

I use this book in Part 2 of my Whole Life Trilogy presentation, and it is also the gift I gave my son when he moved out of the house he grew up in to live on his own. Ironically written as a children's book, "Grownups are buying it for grownups!" In fact, it turns out that parents buy it for grandparents and grandparents buy it for parents and kids buy it for everybody and everybody buys it for kids.

As a matter of fact, everybody buys it for everybody. The message is powerful, the book is beautiful, it makes you cry good tears.

I recommend it as a Mother's Day gift this year to anyone. This book has sold over 15M copies.

The Worldwide Crisis for Anyone Looking to Source Fairy-Dust

 by Phil Liebman

Here is a scandal in need of being exposed. And you will have read it first and exclusively here in Mikki-Leaks, folks.

If so many people depend on fairy-dust as a "sprinkle-on" solution to their problems and fertilizer for opportunities - it would seem that it would be in great abundance - or even selling at a premium due to enormous demand. But disturbingly, it just seems to be off the market. How can this be? Is someone hoarding the world's supply?

I checked on Amazon.com - and they sell small bags - but just between you and me it looks fake. OK - so there is novelty Fairy Dust available for "princess parties" for your 8-year old. But I'm looking for the industrial strength magic potion - the kind that will turn my unimaginably ordinary website idea into the next Amazon.com. I even checked on Alibaba.com - figuring surely someone in China knows a guy who knows a guy who can get me this stuff. But it seems that if it exists anywhere - it might be only on the "deep web" and requires knowing how and where to acquire Bitcoin - to arrange delivery from some unsavory sordid source. Not even something this courageous author of MikkiLeaks is willing to venture. But I bet Satoshi Nakamoto, the recluse legend in hiding who was exposed last year as the guy who invented Bitcoin had plenty of fairy-dust to nurture and build his idea.

Apple Pay

I ordered my Apple Watch the first day they went on sale (4/10/15 if you're keeping track). That said, I didn't get up in the middle of the night to do so, hence I'm enduring the dreaded 4-6 week wait for shipping. I'll tell you about my new watch in the next column.

In the meantime, let's talk Apple Pay. While the Apple Watch supports Apple Pay, so does my iPhone 6. Here's how it works. I order soup and salad at Panera. The clerk rings up the bill. I open the Passbook app (built into iOS - you're likely already using it for your airline boarding passes, your sports and movie tickets, your Starbucks card, and the like). I pick the desired credit card account and hold the phone face-up over the NFC (near field communication) credit card reader. I touch my fingerprint. Done!

How cool is that? Yes, it will be even cooler when I don't have to remove the phone from my pocket. Did I mention that I'm still waiting on my Apple Watch to ship?

I've used Apple Pay at McDonalds, Staples, Walgreens, and Whole Foods. Heck, if I hear someplace accepts Apple Pay, I'll shop there for that reason alone.

Apple Pay set-up was easy. In the Passport app, click the '+' in the upper right corner, hold the camera over your credit card, and voila! I added my AMEX and Visa cards. My old Mastercard (Barclays) didn't work with Apple Pay so I dumped it. My new Mastercard (Citibank) works perfectly.

Other than convenience, there's another big benefit of Apple Pay. If I swipe a credit card the old way, say at Target or Home Depot, there's a real possibility that the card number could be stolen. With Apple Pay, the credit card reader receives just a one-time use code, not my credit card number. Chance of theft is zero.

I'd call that ... priceless.

INSPIRATION

Sometimes you find the loveliest things on Facebook. This is one that's so appropriate that I had to share it with you this month. (Author unknown.)

I WISH YOU ENOUGH

Recently, I overheard a mother and daughter in their last moments together at the airport as the daughter's departure had been announced. Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the mother said:

"I love you and I wish you enough."

The daughter replied, "Mom, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Mom." They kissed and the daughter left.

The mother walked over to the window where I sat. Standing there, I could see she wanted and needed to cry.

I tried not to intrude on her privacy but she welcomed me in by asking, "Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?" "Yes, I have," I replied. "Forgive me for asking but why is this a forever good-bye?"

"I am old and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is the next trip back will be for my funeral," she said.

When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, "I wish you enough." May I ask what that means?"

She began to smile. "That's a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone." She paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail and she smiled even more.

"When we said 'I wish you enough' we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them."

Then turning toward me, she shared the following, reciting it from memory,

"I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.

I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.

I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.

I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.

I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.

I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.

I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye."

She then began to cry and walked away.

They say it takes a minute to find a special person. An hour to appreciate them. A day to love them. And an entire life to forget them.

CONSCIOUS KINDNESS
When is the last time you said thank you to your Mom (or someone else who raised you) for everything they've done? Besides on Mother's Day, I mean.
Is there a particular situation that person supported you through? A financial struggle they helped you overcome?Maybe they've inspired you in some way, or made a significant difference in your life.
On a day other than Mother's Day, surprise them with a card or letter - handwritten would be nice - to let them know how important they are.
