Despite the not-so-springlike weather in April, I had a great and eclectic month; San Diego, Denver and Las Vegas, and the rest of my time was evenly divided between my Chicago and Naples homes. I moderated a Mergers & Acquisitions panel on the McDonald University campus sponsored by Rick Herbst of Sikich (below) Then I attended the Fitness Hall of Fame banquet with my personal trainer, coaching client, professional speaker and friend, John Godoy (who has a column in this ezine every month...scroll!) to honor Peter and Kathie Davis, founders of IDEA. Went to a two-day Vistage Chair training, and it was great to be with 80 Chairs from around the country. Then did a kick off speech on the DiSC Profile system for Julie Gammack's new Vistage group in Chicago. Marcus Lemonis, star of The Profit and Biz Fix. chose four Vistage companies to profile in his new show, and three out of the four were my members - woo hoo! I went to the shoot at Jensen and Halstead (pictured at right with my member Dave Dastur (l), and Marcus). He also filmed my members Sandy Marsico and Sherri Heckenast Speakers School (left) was awesome again this session and due to sellouts, I have added an extra school in July. But hurry, there's on one spot left!
I had the opportunity to catch up with Lisa Norris at my favorite restaurant, Tavern on Rush. I took some time at my Florida home to recover from a neck injury just in time for a whirlwind Mother's Day weekend. The Happy Cooker (that would be me) made a gourmet dinner for friends and for THE son's arrival. I LOVE to cook and entertain, especially in my fun dining room (left). Over the weekend Jason and I had dinner at Summer House Santa Monica with Vistage Member and friend Sheri Miller (below), Then we all went to Bodhi Spiritual Center for the most fabulous concert - Dawn Bless singing Patti LaBelle (below). (No, she did not get that outfit from my closet.)
We finished off the night (yes...we were still going!) at Alex Rueve's graduation party. Her mom Sandy is a former Vistage member, BFF, member of my 6-5-4-3 group and creative designer and founder of SheBeads/HeBeads. She just picked up Whole Foods as the newest client to sell her fab jewelry. The Blackhawks and Cubs are now buying as well. Way to go, Sandy!!! (right) Bodhi Spiritual Center always fills my soul, and spending Mother's Day morning there with Jason made it extra special. Then off we went to have brunch at Beatrix with my Sam. Yes my outrageously fabulous Director of Everything is also a special friend...and darn if we didn't forget to take a photo! Jason and I were going to finish off the day with dinner at Eataly but by that time we were both exhausted and tired of eating, so instead we hung at home. I hope it was a special Mother's Day for all who celebrate and here's to my Mom who has always been my inspiration and who gave me permission to be me. I miss her every day.

by Jack Daly
Jack Daly is a dear friend, cherished colleague and one of the most inspiring people on the planet. Jack and I have matching energies - he just uses his to run marathons and I use mine to shoe shop.
Jack built six start-ups into national firms, two of which he sold to Wall Street. His knowledge of how to build a winning culture, sales management and sales is like Picasso painting or Beethoven composing...he is simply a genius with the passion of a MichelAngelo. Jack has spoken to my Vistage groups many times and we all love how he makes it clear that a sales manager's job is not to grow sales but to grow sales people in quantity and quality and they in turn will grow your sales. Jack has proven techniques that identify the key activities that need to be performed on a daily basis, proactive pipeline management, creating perception of value, leveraging the internet and employing an effective touch system.
I have heard many sales trainers in my careers, and Jack Daly surpasses them all. If you can't experience the man, experience the book, his energy and knowledge shines through every page. If you don't buy this book you "don't know Jack"!!

That was the name of one of my businesses and oh, come on, I know guys cook, too.
Next time you want to serve Mom breakfast in bed try this.
Crepes With Peanut Butter and Jam 4 servings 4 large eggs 1 cup whole milk 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon sugar 1/8 teaspoon fine sea salt 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into 10 cubes 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter, at room temperature 1/3 cup strawberry or raspberry jam 1/2 cup (2 ounces) fresh blueberries Confectioners' sugar, for dusting - In a blender, combine the eggs, milk, flour, sugar and salt. Blend until the mixture forms a smooth batter.
- Heat a 10-inch nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Melt 1 cube of butter in the pan. Add 1/4 cup of batter and quickly tilt the pan to form an even coating of batter on the bottom of the pan. Cook for 1 minute, until set and slightly browned. Using a heat-resistant spatula, carefully loosen the sides and gently flip the crepe over. Cook for 1 minute. Repeat with the remaining batter and butter, stacking the crepes on top of each other on a plate as they are ready. You should have 8 or 9 crepes total.
- Add 1 tablespoon of peanut butter to each crepe and, using the back of a spoon, spread evenly over the crepes, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Spread 2 teaspoons of jam over the peanut butter. Line 5 to 6 blueberries along the center of each crepe. Fold the crepe in half over the blueberries. Fold the two ends inward and continue to roll into a tube shape. Repeat with the remaining ingredients.
- Cut each crepe in half horizontally and arrange on a platter. Dust with confectioners' sugar.
